Same feelings as you guys, I was shocked to be honest I thought he would put Carra at RB since Skrtel failed miserably in his last opportunity at RB.  I'm really happy for him too I remember him saying he trained even over the summer to be ready and got injured right away then said how great it was to be back in for the Carliing Cup match.  Deserved that goal.

Had a great game when coming on i thought, looked to be really relishing the right back role, was chuckling to myself when he went flailing through the bolton back line, he was laughing himself, looked to be having a right laugh and I think that was key, its been a while since ive seen our players have a fun time playing, today Skittles was having fun, and it showed - Even Agger was laughing at him

Enrique had an average game and did little going forward

Granted he didn't contribute massively going forward. But him and Downing worked the left flank excellently well. Watch his one-two's with Downing and the intelligence of his play 'when to go forward' and tell me again his game was "average", because average it wasn't.

It was... you've shown me how much you know about the game when you gave Enrique a 9 in the rating thread so theres little point arguing this with you... He was nowhere to be seen in many occasions when we pushed through the middle or even down the left because he was overly cautious going forward. Made 2 good runs which resulted in nothing and put in a couple of crosses which were much the same... He did a job defensively but this is the sort of game where his attacking game should have been on display and sadly it wasnt..

Back on topic, centerbacks with pace playing rightback is a common occurrence .. He did well from a positioning perspective which was key for me and probably the main reason he got the acclaim he deserved for his performance.. Im just glad we didnt push Carra to the flank ahead of him (or am I ?)...

You are only basing his performance off his attacking... He's a fullback.  Fullback's first job is to defend.  How many times did you see players getting past Enrique today?  I can't think of one time when they went past him.  They never attacked down his side, they went thru the middle or downing the left because Enrique was impassable.

Offensively I thought he did fine.  We were playing out of the center of the park a lot more just getting those balls up to the strikers.  We didn't use Downing as much as well usually do because Carroll wasn't in.  If we aren't using Downing as much we aren't going to use Enrique as much.  However, I think he did well.  Not as good as at Arsenal, but he did well.

Saw a stat on LFC.TV that Enrique had 17 successful passes in the attacking third.

I wouldn't bother with the 'self appointed guru of football', ethanr.

Enrique wasn't "average" at all, it tells you something about the bloke when a fullback is getting slated for not attacking enough.

BTW ethanr, good post.  :D

what the fck happened to all the people on this forum who know a thing or two about football ?! :O

You've got Kenny Kan saying Enrique had a better game than Skrtel, Adam and Henderson, while Ethanr seems to be arguing that it was understandable that a fullback stays back despite having little to nothing to defend.. The whole us playing down the middle so he didnt push up thing though tips it for me...

Its the very reason why BOTH fullbacks should be pushing on to spread the opposition defense especially if they are playing deep and narrow like Bolton were... Skrtel did a fine job despite coming up against their best player (Petrov).

He had an average game. Defensively he had little to do and did it well but he should have pushed up more and added to the numbers when going forward..

Good question. When fans can't see the nature of a footballer's game unless he makes it so obvious to them by scoring three 30yard pile drivers and taking on half the Bolton team to score a 4th.

I concur, what has happened to the people who know a thing or two about football.

Modern day fans.  :glare:

 Case in point, all 3 players scored a goal, thus they automatically have produced a better performance than Enrique. kin'el..

Yeah he is f.ucking useless!  Gave away a stupid peno against Exeter.  Was lucky not to concede a penalty at Stoke were he was wrestling players around the neck in the box.  Out of position or not... Bale totally raped him too.  Just not good enough for this club.

Can't remember when Skrtel played RB prior to yesterday but I remember watching him colapse against Boro playing on the right, and that was the start of a bad spell for us at the back too. Would have rather had Flanno in there tbh. Hell even Carra could have slotted in there so Coates could have come in.

As CGGY has pointed out, Kenny needs to be ruthless with non performers.

I'm a Skrtel fan but to put him up against Bale when we know he struggles playing as a right back was pure stupidity on Kenny's part.

Skertel shouldn't be even near the pitch unless he is handing out towels...Yes Kenny shouldn't have played him RB but he shouldn't have played him a CB or any position for that matter.

Skertel hurt the team not by allowing Bale to dominate him but by getting himself sent off due to his stupidity. Skrtel has nothing to offer and his one time Good performace against Bolton should't trick us. He is a poor poor player.

Kinda tragic we haven't got ONE CB we can trust...(Maybe Coates future will tell).
