Agree with all the comments, and now all the deadwood has gone we can look to add quality when needed in future transfer windows and not quantity.

Still feel we need a world class central midfielder, perhaps, but the work by the club has been fantastic.

Agreed. We're looking miles stronger than we were this time last year.

All the "problem" area's seem to have been addressed.

Fingers crossed that our key midfielder's stay fit. With Gerrard still out the loss of Lucas or Adam could leave us looking vulnerable in that area, I know we've got a couple of lads that can step in e.g. Spearing and Shelvey but in the longer term we're going to require a bit more quality.

With only 19 players named to the 25 man roster, it shows how much youth there is in the squad.  Coates, Kelly, and Henderson are top class and Flanagan, Shelvey, Robinson, Coady, etc. have potential.  The future looks bright and not only for the players that will reach the first team, but it looks like the players who don't quite make it, will fetch a decent transfer fee.

At very least its great to see doom and gloom in off season disappearing

I couldn't believe the $hit I was reading during pre-season, some people went OTT with their moaning and whinging about our pre-season results. Fecking stupid really as they haven't impacted on our start, well possibly the second half against Sunderland when the side seemed to run out of puff.

In conclusion though: Never write off a season based on pre-season results. It's an old motto used by people that have been in the game, watching the game for years and it still rings true today.

I was one of the people that was critical of our pre-season and to be honest i still am.
We should have picked stronger sides for the last 3 games so the players were ready for the Sunderland game.
That was 2 points dropped without question.
I wasnt writing our season off based on the results, more questioning the wisdom of the players not getting enough playing time to get match sharpness and gel.

I stand by what i said as well.

But i have no other complaints. The way the squad has been shaped has for me been excellent with all of the problem areas being adressed in a fashion.
I am majorly optimistic for this season and think we could have a blinder.
