ya well said,
anyone knows much about the new UEFA fair play rule kicking in 2012?

in a nutshell, clubs must not spend more than they earned or they wont qualified for european games.

i am sure this rule will exclude out mancity and chelski

I suggest you look at the thread dedicated to it (here).

* The rule only affects clubs looking to gain a UEFA licence. Simply put if you don't play in Europe the rules do not affect you.

* The FFPR will take effect from the 2013-14 season. The rules need to be borne in mind from the 2011-12 season onwards because the 2011-12 and 2012-13 season accounts are used to determine a club’s licence application in the 2013-14 season.

* Any potential stadium is not included in UEFA’s break-even calculation.

* The break even rules do not strictly come into force until 2015. Between 2013 and 2015 UEFA will allow a deviation or overspend. From the 2013/14 season when the rules practically come into force, an owner can invest up to €45m over two seasons in exchange for more shares in the club.

* Short term significance - Transfer spending completed before the 2011-12 season (as the first accounting period UEFA uses to measure the break-even test) would not be included in the UEFA FFPR calculations. Any large transfer spending, if it is not done in this summer or winter transfer window, would be taken into account by UEFA. Hence why Chelsea spend £50m on Torres this season instead of next.

* Long term significance - Rules are in Liverpool’s favour, Liverpool are one of only a small number of global football institutions that have the ability to expand their international commercial activities. Liverpool’s global following should give the club a disproportionate revenue advantage when compared with probably all but two or three other Premier League clubs.

It's still a long way off (4th). We need TWO clubs to surrender six point leads (haven't they both played a game less than us as well?) and still have to play all of the teams above us (except Chelsea). We'd need to go on a massive run, so I suggest we do as Kenny says and take one game at the time and who knows where we might end up :;):

It is almost impossible. Both Chelsea and Spurs have to loose about 10 points out of 13 games... something that could happen, but we would have to win every single game untill the end of the season! All 12 games must be won if we want to get to 4th! I belive in Kenny, in the team and in the Club but 12 games in a row... I gues I also agree with Kenny, Wigan is our next game and that's where we should be concentrating.

Chelsea or Spurs have to lose 10 points (9 points for it to go down to GD) out of 39.

Personally I can see Spurs losing more than Chelsea, they are already suffering with injury and they are get to resume the CL.

For Chelsea to drop enough points we need them to lose to Man Utd twice and throw in some draws.

But one game at a time. We also have EL to play.

the fact that we're even contemplating the possibility of finishing 4th shows just how much kenny has turned the team around in recent weeks. unfortunately i think the resurgence has come too late for us to achieve 4th. i see us finishing where we are now (6th) or maybe 5th at a push. to get into the top 4 we'd probably have to win 10 out of our last 12 games which is a tall order.

next season though, with the right additions in the summer, top 4 has to be the aim.

... and hopefully with Kenny still in charge. I just cant picture the team without him at the momment. It would be stupid if the owners dont offer him a long-term contract especially if he keeps this up. That guy Clarke should stay as well.

Mate, Chelsea and Tottenham WILL lose points, but the thing is, we will as well. With 12 games left to play I can see us losing 5-7 points and that's if we keep the good form. We are strong and if someone is capable of such a comeback it's us, we are Liverpool, but this is the Premier League, and the name of the league itself says how impossible it is to do something like that....

.... then again we have done some impossible stuff in the past... :)

But like Kenny said, let's concentrate on our next game for now.

here it is ,the source is wikipedia though??? .

An exception to the usual European qualification system happened in 2005, after Liverpool won the Champions League the year before, but did not finish in a Champions League qualification place in the Premier League that season. UEFA gave special dispensation for Liverpool to enter the Champions League, giving England five qualifiers.[25] UEFA subsequently ruled that the defending champions qualify for the competition the following year regardless of their domestic league placing. However, for those leagues with four entrants in the Champions League, this means that if the Champions League winner falls outside of its domestic league's top four, it will qualify at the expense of the fourth-placed team in the league. No association can have more than four entrants in the Champions League.[26]

dont matter can't see anyone beating barca for it atm.

If we wana get 4th spot were gona have to rely on chelsea an spurs droping points, unfortunatly our destiny isnt quite in our hands.

Chelsea have to play utd twice as well as city an spurs. Maybe utd an city can do us a favour and take maximum points off chelsea, and a draw between chelsea an spurs would suit us down to the ground.

Spurs have to play city, arsenal, ourselves an chelsea. Hopefuly city and arsenal will do the business against them here and they draw with chelsea and we beat them 10-0 to help our goal diff.

These are the games id feel spurs and chelsea are most likely to drop points however we all know that it never goes to plan so hopefuly they will loose points with some shock results also.

Its all well and good hoping that they drop points but we also have to give ourselves as good a chance as possible of catching them. Idealy we would win our last 12games by about 3-0 in all of them to give us an extra 36 towards our goal diff. This isnt imposible just improbable. I feel that the most amount of points we can afford to drop is about 4, so two draws or one loss.

Like I said our destiny isnt quite in our hands but we have to put as much pressure on those above us and the best way to do this is by taking it one game at a time. Concentrate on wigan at the weekend.

And if we win our next three games, wigan, west ham and utd, then mayb the teams below us will see that Liverpool are back and those games are half won already. There is alot to do with confidence in this game and if we grow in confidence our oponents will begin to doubt themselves.

If anyone can do it it is surley Kenny Dalglish. And at the end of the day if it isnt to be then the least we can do is enjoy ourselves. A month ago we were beat 3-1 by blackburn and things were looking very bad, if someone had said in a months time we'll be talking about 4th spot I dont think anyone would have believed them.

So f.uck the start of the season, brighter times are surely ahead and everyone connected with Liverpool FC is surely filled with a renewed sense of optomisim.
