That sort of forgets Spurs....but I agree...

I have written off Utd winning the 19th this year.  Tough to take but it is only temporary and they would still be the 2nd most succesfull english club!!  :;):

It would be such a boost tothe club to get CL next season that I'd sacrifice that.  I think this, as I'm pretty confident that next season we will be in the title challenge, and could easily even up the score again.

It'll come down to our pre season I reckon. We'll finish gawd knows where this season, could be 4th could be 6th either way it'll be a result from the early part of the season. However next season will come down to the preparation over the summer months and one or two key signings.

Cant see us goin unbeaten. I was being as realistic as possible doin it. But hey, If we finished 6th, Its a good turnaround in my book. I really was begining to loose faith under hodgson, and thought we could have gone down at one stage.

The Mancs win it on goal difference. How sick would that be :(

i had a little play with that as well. in my one its arsenal who just pip the mancs on goal difference, city come 3rd, chelsea 4th, spurs 5th and us 6th. only doing some slightly optimistic tweaking got us higher up.

who knows though. this season is completely unpredictable anyway so lets see what happens...

Taking things a step at a time, we have Wigan and West Ham next.  Six points is a must, and should be expected in our current form.

Should either or both of CFC and Spurs drop points they will start to look over their shoulders, and the pressure may begin to tell, especially when the Champions League programme kicks back in.

I suspect KK will use youngsters in the Europa (Pacheco, Ngog, Suso, Spearing, Shelvey, Wilson, Jones) plus fringe players like Jova, Cole (yes he is fringe) etc.

This will allow us to fully focus on climbing the table.

4th is a stretch, but I am convinced this is Kenny's target now.

While we've been playing well and picking up points, i think 4th is still quite some distance and we should be taking it one game at a time for now trying to restore stability and confidence... I dont think anyone within the club would want to put that much pressure on the players at this stage with them finally regaining some sort of rhythm..

Imo, the only way we could get fourth spot is if we go for a very attacking setup and score big goals especially in our home games.. We'll most definitely come up against opposition who will sit back and try to frusrate us and other opposition who nick silly goals and the only way we could overcome such conditions is having forwards who are used to scoring.. At the moment we dont seem to be playing any sort of formation that allows our forwards to get into good scoring opportunities.. We're playing a largely defensive formation that contains the opposition and looks to spring forward on the counter... Can see us dropping points against smaller sides unless Suarez or Carroll come in and hit the ground running in goalscoring terms...

We only have to score one more than our opponents to win all our games
:)

My point exactly.. You go in with that mentality and chances are you end up dropping a lot of points especially against the smaller sides..

If we're serious about 4th spot, we should be much more aggressive in our approach to achieving it ...

All good and well winning 1-0 in some of the harder games and having a solid defense to build on but no doubt we'll be going to some tough grounds where we'll need strikers in good form to pull us out of sht ...

I expect to see Suarez gradually establishing his place in the side in the next few games and how he performs in front of goal will probably go a long way in determining where we end up in the league...

The mentality I mean is to win 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, 4-3, 5-4, 6-5, 7-6 etc whatever, just as long as we score more than the opposition

I am happy with the results but not our style of play. We're just too defensive and the way we're playing is similar to the Houllier's era. But attack is the best defence.

I am sure he has things up his sleaves to play this kind of football. I believe he is purely being practical, just continue to pick up the 3 points/game regardless of how we play knowing what the club has gone through this season. And attacking football will be after this season when we have bought a few more star players. Because KK's style has never been one of being defensive and catch your opponents off guard on the counter.

I wouldn't say we're defensive... we just used them tactics to try and nulify Chelsea and it worked really well.  We are still passing the ball really well and looking to attack.  But we have no proper fit strikers at the moment.

WE needed to sort the defense out first as we were shipping far to many goals and getting beat bt sh!t sides ,that had to be the priority. I don't know what games you have been watching but we've been more attacking in the last 3 or 4 games than we have for about 18 months. The amount of men we are getting in and around the area when we start an attack is totally different from what we have been watching , maybe 6 or 7 at times. Players wanting the ball all the time , the passing and movement , the commitment ,everything is positive about our game right now and it will only continue under kenny .

We have been playing all season virtually without a centre forward
To be 6th at this point with what weve been through is a minor miracle

without a centre forward?  ???
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I thought that. Torres hit 9 league goals before he left us, 5 more than anyone else in our squad

It will remain very difficult to get 4th spot but the progress we have made in recent weeks gives us all a glimmer of hope that we can do it. With the Champs League kicking in again soon we may get a chance if Spuds and Chelski take there eye off the EPL ball and leave the back door open for us. I think that Man City, Arsenal and Man Utd won't be catchable.

I know that the Europa is now our only chance of silverware but I would focus all efforts on the premiership and use fringe players in the Europa.
