The great thing about him is, as soon as he opens his mouth i feel like we're a big club on the verge of greatness.  That surely translates to the players.

RED BEERGOGGLES wrote:LFC Weekly January 11: Craig Johnston on King Kenny's return
Jan 11 2011
CRAIG Johnston believes Kenny Dalglish has been desperate to return to Liverpool ever since he last left the club in 1991.

Dalglish dramatically returned to Anfield as caretaker manager at the weekend in a move that has been excitedly received by the majority of fans.
It’s an appointment Dalglish will have been equally enthused by and the Scot is a man who knows Liverpool Football Club better than anyone, according to Johnston.

“The fact that he didn’t go and live back in Scotland or abroad after finishing says much about how he feels for Merseyside,” Johnston exclusively told LFC Weekly from the Bahamas. “Every time he goes for dinner, every time he goes out of the house, somebody from Liverpool will say something to him. When he’s on holiday – when he’s on the golf course, he will be approached by people wanting to talk Liverpool.

“Speaking to him, I’ve always got the impression that he’s waited for this day since he left Liverpool originally.
“So it’s a case of getting hold of the pit helmet, switching the light on and jumping back into the coal mine.”

Johnston believes Dalglish’s managerial style is just what the club need at the moment.

“There’s no school teacher in Kenny. A lot of managers in the modern game talk about football as if it’s some kind of exact science when it isn’t. The only thing that is certain is that you won’t achieve success if you don’t try hard.
“Kenny demands 100 per cent from everyone who works with him and is uncompromising when it comes to effort. That’s what made him the player and the manager he is. He not only had talent, but he was a hard worker as well. He loved to graft. He was born to play football and born to manage players.”

Is there anyone albeit from Taggart and the Bitterz who are not delighted by his appointment ? :;):

thanks for posting that mate! my favourite player giving & summing it up brilliantly about the best man to wear the famous red shirt!

great interview, said it how it is with KK demanding 100% effort from everyone etc...

great to see an ex player give a whole hearted insight to how he feels & knows what it's like to work for & play with KK.

                         top man-craig johnston!  :bowdown

but that's just my opinion, please don't slag him off if you didn't like or rate craig, please don't ruin it for me -when he gave such a great interview an all that, let's just enjoy what a great read that interview is.

I was watching SSN before and Blackpools manager Ian Holloway was on it and he spoke very highly of Kenny and L.F.C as if he was a closet fan, he also mentioned something along the lines of since Kennys departure from the club 20 years ago "That Man united still haven't over took us"

I thought he was a bit of tit but I have totally changed my mind now.

Ian Holloway=Liverpool fan

Great Vid. Pacheco scored again (Sunderland), Kenny was watching too I heard. Hope he brings him into the first team, maybe UEFA cup.

Lakes whats all this 10 games :censored:? He's gonna get at least till the end of the season, probably more if we don't get in a top manager so stop with the negativity. You gotta be the most negative guy around here in regards to his appointment. Take a chill pill mate and enjoy the good feeling that's going around.

I disagree with Holloway on Man U hasn't overtaken us. Looks like they'll win the premier league again this season and they will overtake us, 19 times to ours 18.

We need to forget about the statistics and concentrate on the LONG road to recovery from our chronic problems that spans from ownership, millions in debt, inept managers etc to the players' morale.

The current squad is not Kenny's squad. He's working with a team with players recruited by Rafa and Roy with a low morale making Kenny's job that much harder. The current status quo is vastly different from the time when he was first appointed as manager in 1985.

So if we fail to win against Blackpool and later Everton please don't make Kenny the scape goat. To expect Kenny to turn things around swiftly is like expecting him to walk on water and raising the dead. Liverpool's problem has been too chronic that started about 2 decades ago since he left.

The current owners seem to be listening to the fans and are serious about lifting Lvp unlike H&G who were plain opportunists. I've said it before and I'll say it again, we need about 3 seasons to turn things around and challenging for the top spot our rightful place hopefully still with Kenny.

With Kenny, you can feel his presence right away especially from the players as they know they can't f.ck with him. So, they either listen, go out to perform or leave. The players can no longer use the manager as an excuse. I'm glad that order had been restored now. Fans can see effort and would appreciate it even if it is a tough loss. I think all will get better now.

This is my feeling to. They know the fans will back King Kenny whatever happens and therefor they either buck up or :censored: off.

here's a question. if kenny really does manage to do a job this season and get us finishing in a respectable place with signs of all round improvement then there'll be a strong case for him to stay on, regardless of who else is in the frame. if he stays on next season then it means he's our permanent manager. but considering the fact that kenny will be 60 years old this year how long do we think he'll be able to stick it out for? we need someone to really drag our sorry árses back among the top teams, and this might take a little while. the club needs some long term stability. no more 6 months plans, 2 year plans, or 5 year plans, but a long and concentrated programme of knocking those mancs of that cráppy little temporary perch they are making for themselves, then staying there, unmoveable.

60 is not TOO old for a manager.  (although i know our owners like young managers).  Im sure Kenny is capable of doing the job for somewhere between 5 - 10 years IF all is going well.  Probably closer to 5 though.

It would be nice if during that time he could teach the likes of Carra how its done.  Maybe go back to the Bootroom.
