ROY HODGSON - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I agree mate.

But I think most of the fans would be happy to let Roy self destruct (that & poor results taken into account) until NESV can take no more.

Roy's biggest mistake has been disclosing too much information to the media & then having to justify himself at any given time. You only need to read that article from the the Daily Post - or posted in page 457 of Red Beergoggle's post.

so it seems many people are wrong that he has lost the dressing room ???

the majority of the players support him and that is why he is still the manager.

Its a shame its not the dressing room he's got the problem with ,need I remind you its the fans who want him gone, and its the fans who will orchestrate his departure ....

Yep, that will happen in the end.

I was pointing out the reason for him not getting the sack yet is because the players still support him.

Roy to rest Torres and Gerrard

He said: "I think we will have to hope that the fans and supporters understand that.

"Fernando had a very serious knee injury, which seems to be in the past, but when you've had an injury there's always the little risk of reoccurrence.

"And Steven, of course, is susceptible to muscle injury if he plays too many games one after the other.

"So, I've got to hope that the ones who just seem to keep going - the Duracell bunnies; the Kuyts, the Lucas Leivas of this world - can keep us going and give me a chance of giving a rest to the others."

I see Roy wants to start resting Gerrard and Torres at some point.  Personally, i think its an awful idea!  We're far too unconfident at the minute and far down the table too.  i could see the long term benefit if we were challenging for 4th but we have too much ground to catch up.

And we need to try everything we can to beat the Mancs on Sunday and possibly set up a chance for ourselves in the FA Cup.

If he somehow manages to win at Blackburn and then at United the tide could potentially turn for Hodgson. Every games massive for him but these two in particular, a league game on the road where we are usually shambolic and a clash against our biggest rivals again on the road. I personally dont think we will win either, and there will be another tidal wave of abuse and continued calls for his dismissal. Should he pull off what appears an unlikely away double this week then it would be something of a triumph for him and from his perspective he needs to so all out in these games as he surely cant survive two defeats.

Roy Hodgson is history - and now 4-6 for the sack

By Derek Mcgovern 4/01/2011 Daily Mirrror
I wasn't going to discuss Liverpool today as it would have been nice to pretend there is nothing wrong at Anfield. You know, like Roy Hodgson does.
But news the Kop boss has hardened to 4-6 favourite with Ladbrokes for the sack is significant.
The feeling on Merseyside that Liverpool is too big a job for the former Fulham manager grew when, last week, he mentioned forthcoming opponents Bolton, Blackburn and Blackpool as being "within our compass".
Geographically speaking, he's right, but in getting his Anfield geography right he dumped all over its history.

The subtext of Hodgson's words was that they are the teams in whose bracket he now classes Liverpool.
That is a grave insult to Liverpool fans, and an even graver one to fans of Bolton, Blackburn and Blackpool.

Funny Roy quote that i hadnt heard before:

"Of course, my track record, if people bothered to study it, would put me in the same category as Mr. Ferguson enjoys today, but people don't talk about what I've done outside England."'

Yeah, fair play Roy for all Malmo's titles :D

Even funnier though, apparently Roy was voted 9th best coach of 2010 on the below site.

His track record?

Who are these people who supposedly 'respect' Hodgson anyway? Before he came to Fulham, nobody in England rated him at all. Now suddenly, he's respected. Laughable.

FFS we have played two games in 20+ days!!

Why on earth would he talk of resting anybody when he said that our pi$$ poor display vs Wolves was down to being rusty.

Torres just needs confidence and games he said.....so yeh resting him is genius.

If we were challenging on all four fronts, and on a long winning run then sure, tinker with the team for the lesser games but jesus we can't string two results together, and he wants to rest our two best players?

Has Ferguson got his hand up Roy's ar$e telling him what to say next to bring further ridicule to LFC???

The guy is a joke.

Yeah he is unbelievably overrated just because he's English imo.  If you're honest with yourself you'd accept the fact that he is a small time manager and is not a winner.  He's shown me time and time again that he is out of his depth here at Liverpool and the sooner we get rid the sooner we can start to rebuild.  He was always the wrong choice as our manager, but I, along with others, wanted to believe we had made a step in the right direction.  I was wrong.

Oh FFS just when you think it couldnt get any worst he comes out with this sh!te, he better not rest Torres & gerrard tommorrow night, there will be murders if he does and we get beat.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

well I for one will take your word over most on here Ben as your usually on the money with the team selection.

However, if he does rest Gerrard/Torres he's nailing his own coffin lid shut at this club, especially if he makes a fluff of the game and loses.

I rather think Roy knows this though and he will put out everyone he can, full strength team on the pitch. Hey we might just win it.

Can someone please explain to me how Hodgson was voted manager of the year last year when he guided Fulham to 12th place in the league and lost in the final of Uefa cup compared to Ancelotti who won with Chelsea in his first season in English football???
Was it some kind of sympathy award much like Giggs winning sports personility of the year, although Giggs deserved that a hell of a lot more.
