Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Funnily enough, Carra played well today.  Sure, he was especially brilliant for their goal but Skrtel didn't need to tw.at it off him and into the net either.  Otherwise, he did a good job getting stuck into Diouf and got forward to good effect plenty of times.

Was excellent against Chelsea... His form has picked up in recent weeks and its funny how he got little credit after the Chelsea game despite being one of the best players out there imo...

Yep he was magnificent and showed again that he is still our best defender. Unfortunately for him though, the days of him getting credit on forums like this are probably a thing of the past (not that he overly gives a sh!t I shouldn't think ).

A true legend though, 100%.

I certainly think some of the criticism he has got recently has been a bit over the top. I've criticised him a lot this season because I don't think his general form has merited him starting every week. For example I find it incredibly hash that the Greek was dropped having been our best defender this season.

The game at the weekend was exactly the sort of game which he excels in though. A backs to the wall job in the second half which brought back memories of his performances against Chelsea in 2005 and 2007.

If you're refering to the Chelsea game Soto was sick and thus left out. He wasn't even on the bench.

Re Carragher it's very nice that he - along with his teammates - seems to be finding form. We still really need him to marshall the defence.

Aye St Mick, the Greek had a virus mate, not dropped.  I love the Greek!!  The Bolton game was one of the few times I've seen Kevin Davies come off the field having lost the physical battle.  Kyrgiakos was immense that game.

On Carra, I don't know what peoples' problem is this season.  He's been on the slide since he peaked between 2005-2007, but his form this season has been better than the last 2 seasons imo.

the main gripe was him demanding that he played every week otherwise he wouldn't sign a new contract. i think a lot of fans were suspicious that at 33 he got a new 2 year contract reportedly worth £90k a week a day before the takeover went through. there's also a lot of discontent that he refused to play right back under the previous manager and yet willingly did so this season.

anyway that's water under the bridge now. as long as he keeps putting performances in on the pitch like he did at the weekend i'm sure most fans will forget about that soon enough.

Carra has been playing solid lately but just a random thought I had recently about how people see him do simple things and comment like he just saved a goal off the line or something when in reality it is something you'd expect any CB to do.  It's pretty funny sometimes, does anyone else notice this or is it just me? ???  Even the commentators do it when I'm watchin the matches it's pretty funny when I think about it.

It's madness, I really do hope we move on from Jamie starting every game for us.  We need some CBs that are comfortable with the ball at their feet, it's a huge problem for us all that hoofing we do back there.  None of them can bring it forward or just maintain the ball till a pass opens up.

Now he is out for at least 3 months (if reports are to be believed) how do people feel?
Lets have a serious discussion with honest opinions for those who are truly either happy or gutted he is out of action.
No name calling please...

i think we'll miss his passion and determination but his football ability can be handled. Time for Kelly to step in and get a good run in the team.

Jamie Carragher today spoke of his disappointment after a scan on his dislocated shoulder confirmed he is likely to be sidelined for three months.

The 32-year-old will have surgery this week on an injury sustained in the closing moments of our 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.

"I'll be having surgery at the end of the week," Carragher told Liverpoolfc.tv. "The average is about 12 weeks. I'd like to come back before that but I've got to make sure it's right. It will probably be late February or early March when I'm looking to come back.

"It's difficult for me when I'm injured. It hasn't happened very often, and I'm very lucky with that I suppose, but maybe it's caught up with me a little bit now.

"I've been here before with a broken leg which put me out this length of time. It's not easy but you've got to get on with it, and it makes you more determined to get back.

"I'm sure towards the end of the season when people are maybe feeling a little bit tired I'll be raring to go."

get well soon carra.

we could really do with agger back now.

still no one in their right mind would mess with our back 2 of Skrtel and Soto!!!
