I agree. I was just throwing a name out there.

It's a difficult one though. The issue is whether the NESV would be willing to splash the cash on ' big-name signings' or whether they would want Comolli to get a feel for LFC and identify the targets for the summer.

I think our owners have basicallly said, they would rather find cheaper young players with a big future to sign on long contracts but they would also consider buying a big name player.

The only thing they dont want to do is buy players that have had their best days and are looking for a swansong at LFC.

Makes sense to me!
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

I wonder when was the last time our scouts went up the M6?

Funny you should say that Reg.

Sharing a house with two Rangers fans at the moment I have been forced to watch a lot of them.  Steven Naismith is really starting to come into his own this season.  Didn't look out of his depth in the Champions league games either.  I'm not convinced totally, but he's one to keep an eye on.

i think its looking increasingly like we need something close to a 'marquee' signing. there are too many rumblings from our millionaire stars that they want to see progress, and as loathe as i am to pander to these outbursts i'm even more loathe to lose certain players because they perceive a lack of ambition. i've no idea who it would be but we need to make a meaningful signing in january and and even more meaningful one or two in the summer. the owners need to show that they mean business and the players need to see that they mean it. ideally this player would be a striker or a winger of some description, though a quality defender wouldn't go amiss either.

First of all mate, learn to spell.

And secondly, what relevance does that comment have to a post on Steven Naismith?

Boro bought pretty poor Scottish players.  Celtic wanted rid of McManus and Robson, while Thompson wasn't exactly a success at Rangers.  And anyone who watched Kris Boyd in the SPL knew he wouldn't cut it at a higher level, which is what the Championship is compared to the SPL these days.

If you look at what NESV did when they bought Boston, they bought a few very good players right off the bat (pun).  I don't know if they will do it in January, but I don't think 25 -30 mil. will scare them if its spent on players like Hulk, bring it!

I would pitch a small % of SPL sides at L1 level and thats being kind. The worst of them wouldnt cut it there either and your looking at them in L2/BSP to make them look like any kind of outfit. I am not joking either and speak from experience of one or two sides up there in particular Inverness who staggeringly remain unbeaten on the road in 11 months up there but field a team of L2 standard at best and no kidding.

think you might have something there, the word is we are going to look at British born players first (due to us not have 25 home grown players in our team).

heard we are looking at some young kid at Kilmarnock .

If Hulk is inconsistent, podolski is definetly as inconsistent. Outside the national team podolski has been consistently inconsistent. I'd like to see Benzema come here though.

We have Wilson, he has come with a bit of a reputation, CL experience too I think. Not just Scotland but there must be some decent young Irish talent we can snap up too.

I have a (half) sister who went to the same school as him.  He was a year below, for that reason Ive always kinda kept an eye on him. I have been really impressed by him this past few years and I think would be good as a impact sub.
He would have to raise his game or maybe move wide to be a regular starter.
Very promising though and will continue to develope his game IMO.
Villa would want big money though, 15m+ easy. If we are raiding villa I`d have Young top of the list, simply because its a little less of a punt.

15 million for a bit part player?  i'd prefer to look elsewhere TBH.

Er which is why I said if we were raiding villa I`d go for Young.
Try and keep up!
