I must admit although I say again people are entitled to their own views, I have been shocked by the way some fans have carried on. I'll tell you this for nothing, even if I had been the staucnhest pro on the boards, I'd have got right in behind the new fella as he deserves a good do. It's not his fault what happened to the previous manager, if indeed anything did.
Redbeergoggles and Igor were pretty stauchly pro, and they seem to be able to find it intheir hearts to give the new manager a chance. That's exactly how I'd be too. Unfortunately one or two people are confirming an impression I'd long held in that they'd allowed their love for a manager to develop to an extent where they were and are a bigger fan of his that they were the football club. Shame but there it is.

They will argue that they are behind him, but are merely pointing out the realities and his limitations, should he not reach their expectations.

If only they insisted on the same loyalty that they wanted for the previous manager for the current one

Roy Hodgson has warned Liverpool’s fans that they will not realise their title dream until the club has new owners.
Hodgson admits it has taken him less than three months to discover that the debts that strangled the life out of Rafa Benitez’s reign make it impossible for him to build a team capable of ending the Reds’ 20-year wait for the championship.
Hodgson revealed:
>Liverpool are in limbo while Tom Hicks and George Gillett find a buyer willing to pay their £600million price for a club they have saddled with £361m in debts;
>He has no contact with the two American owners;
>He fears clubs who failed to prise Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and Pepe Reina away this summer will keep returning until the financial crisis is over.
Hodgson insists he is not disillusioned with life at Liverpool – but says that the level of expectation at the club has to be balanced against the harsh financial realities.
He said: “I don’t think it’s pessimistic, people are realistic. The ownership problems are well documented and I can’t wave a magic wand and make them go away.
“Of course, I cannot deny the club needs new ownership.
“We’re not alone in that, but we’re probably the most high-profile club in the world in that situation. I think we will have a decent season. I am confident the boys won’t let the fans and the club down.
“Whether or not we will really get our act together as we’d like to so we can take the next big step, well, that will depend on the ownership issue being settled.”
Hicks and Gillett are willing to walk away and the Royal Bank of Scotland have set them an October 6 deadline to satisfy a loan of £237m.
But a number of potential buyers have made it clear that they will not go near the £600m-plus being asked for the club by the Americans.
Hodgson said: “I don’t speak to the owners for what I know about high finance could be written on the back of a postage stamp.”
He added: “It was very important during the transfer window that we saved three very good players from leaving.
“But as a manager of a club where there are good players you have to accept that every year there’s going to be speculation about your best players.”

Regardless of what you think about the fella he replaced, surely the new bloke is worth a shot. Some people are sitting on the sidelines dying for him to fail so they can tell us they told us so.

Is he absolute top class i.e Wenger/Mourinho/Ferguson league? It doesnt look like it given his record, although he does have this one opportunity at Liverpool to see if he can reach those heights.
When I saw Roy being appointed I felt it had "interim manager" written all over it, although how long he will be "interim" will depend on the takeover.
As a "steadying the ship" bloke goes I think he is as good as it gets at the moment and I think he'll do a good job, but I really hope in two years time he and the current owners arent here.
