Anyone know why Merieles didin't start? Was generally a poor performance all round.

we don't have that anymore... unfortunately mate... when the two c*nts took over, everything went downhill from there :(

It's well documented on here but Benitez upsetting Alonso 2 years ago which eventually led to him leaving contributed to the slide last year.

Even with Arbeloa and Alonso in the team last year I doubt we'd have been any higher than fourth because of the lack of cover for Torres and other players not playing as well.

The Yanks have been a disaster for the club but but pushing out Alonso was Benitez's biggest mistake as manager.

Roy have to be learn from Rafa mistake last season ... 2 of these mistake is ..

1) Stop Lucas from playing 1st eleven ...
2) Stop playing 2 DM .... Torres needs other attacking mind player to support him ...

Now every team knows to how stop liverpool from winning ... and that's very easy .. stop SG and Stop Torres ... and they will stop Liverpool from Winning ..

I'm not going to deny that 'the sky isn't blue' but by the same token I'm not going to 'form a lynch mob', our football so far is not as great as it can be.

Firstly, anyone who thinks Roy or any other manager for that matter is going to come in and turn a morale depleted squad around over night may as well stop reading here. If they are expecting miracles and what not perhaps they should read a nice little narrative staring Tinkerbell. With that said we are four domestic games into the domestic season and I'll be honest and say that I'm not keen on us just sitting back off of the opposition like we have been. We do resemble an average outfit when we allow other teams like Brum and WBA to play. Yet baring in mind Roy has not had ample time in pre-season, brought in no new coaching staff and limited funs etc it's more than likely going to take him a little while longer to turn the side around. I cannot believe Roy will just settle for what we're seeing at the present point in time, IMHO he's going back to what he sees as 'back to basics'. I said after our win against WBA our defence looks to be more susceptable to conceeding goals, there are gaps there that weren't there before. BUT Roy has to balance defence and attack in that we can't optimise our attack to the detriment of our defence and visa-ersa, he needs to balance that right now. We've lacked creativity for x-amount of years and the signings he's made look to reform these insufficientcies.

I'm not convinced on Lucas, N'gog, Poulsen and Jovo while Cole and Meireles do look/are that more 'special'. I'm hopeful Konchesky will be our LB version of Steve Finnan at RB.

The team and the manager specifically need time to transition and I will be defending him simply because I believe a vast bulk of our support cannot wait for him to fail, I'm backing the underdog here to prove he's upto the job. Lets not forget it 'took Fergie seven years to win ought with Manc United' and yet here we are 4 games into the season and like it or not the lynch mob are forming.
Football is a relatively simple game and Roy knows it ;)

DEAR ROY:

PLEASE GO AND BUY JESUS NAVAS BEFORE CHELSEA DO...

Navas is exactly the sort of player i feel would improve the side exponentially and would give us an attacking setup as good as any in the league... Chelsea seem to be interested in getting him for aroung 17mill... Anything under 20 or even 25mill is a bargain imo.. Maybe we can send Maxi, Lucas and Babel the other way and add a few mill ?

Roy should be given all the credit and patience in the World ,But if there is a little black book for managers ,he just got himselves a few points for the Birmingham game - be it the starting line up and late changes. Manager must react to what is happening on the pitch.

Please dont. I doubt he will come, but its too much of a gamble anyway with his issues.

Even some fella called Jesus couldnt help us whilst we have a team of international footballers who cant string 3 passes together.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Roy needs to drop Skertel and Lucas.
Skertel couldnt head the ball even if his life depends on it...
Lucas is just simply not good enu, given many chances to show it, he is the new "heskey".
