JBG's stance that he steadies the ship competes for top four generally does a good job and in the future we get new owners loads of cash and a platinum manager who has inherired a decent well run squad so the jump up is that bit easier

We still have a decent squad and very good spine and a manager who is vastly experienced and at the age where this is realistically his last pop with a big club so I can only assume he really wants to make his mark and I think he is capable of winning something this season

These scenarios are not that wide off the mark although I do accept the nightmare scenario of the club going into self destruct mode but if we defended Rafa because of the situation then we have to sympathise with Roy as well as its hardly improved since he took over.  Although I was/am pro Rafa I do like what Ive seen so far from Hodgson its just that he has his own personality and a deals with things differently to how Rafa would have dealt with it.  Its up to us therefore to decide if we like his style and personality.  I do, but I havent forgotten Rafa or think that all is well now, its just that I think we have to look forward and support the team especially during this hellish time.  And to judge any manager in September is IMO a bit insane.

What constitutes a platinum manager? Wenger wasnt before he was given Arsenal job. Mourinho is nothing but a whore. rijkaard? Guardiola? Lets give roy time. I seen earlier someone mention ill judge him after the next two games. FFS. Get a grip.

Imagine sacking Shanks after a couple of seasons of not winning league? Where would we be? Imagine sacking Kenny after the defeat at goodison in 86. He needs time and a lot of patience from the fans. We are finacially crippled just now, and need to allow roy to use the youngsters and find his own team. We wont be far off (if at all) top four under roy.

I'll wager one thing. He'll better last season FACT!

Give it up mate you are wasting your breath. I have read enough on here to see that some people simply won't give the man a) time or b) a chance.

Some people seem to forget than in his first season our ex-manager din't get everything right and along the way lost 1/3 of Premier League games.

Its like some people want Roy to fail just so they can say - told you so. Shocking state of affairs the club is in from the owners down to us the fans.

Roy has been the manager of LFC for a short period of time yet already there is an aura of discontent amongst some fans that he was a bad appointment.

Those fans are probably the same fans that fiercely supported Rafa for 6 long years yet they can't give the new one 6mins...its madness!

Give the man a chance, he deserves that at least before judgement is passed.

Roy has and is gaining support I was giving two scenarios.  Its the general state of the club that he has joined which is the root of all worries concerning LFC.  I hope he succeeds as LFC succeeds and if we get a billionaire I think he will be unfairly dismissed a la Mark Hughes who was replaced by somebody that hasnt shown he is that much better but had won leagues with Milan hence platinum.

And as I stated its far too early to judge

I had a fella in the pub extolling the virtues of Roy again to me last night. We're pretty close to the Fulham and Chelsea grounds around here, and most of the actual "local" people woulod be Fulham supporters. Being such a small club compared to the big boys, seemingly everyone "knows someone down there" and it really can't be overstressed how much they thought of Hodgson. It doesn't matter if you talk to people who were involved in the youth set up, people who know actual first team players or stewards or whatever else, they have an absolutely huge respect for our new manager.

The fella I was chatting with last night absolutely cannot believe that some Liverpool fans are not happy about Roy being the manager. He thinks that given time Roy will make us great again, lets hope so. Next two games are vital though obviously.

Dont go to a pub in Bolton then the Sam love in will send you barmy :D

I agree that he seems a genuine good guy in the Robson mould but it still infuriatingly comes back to the owners and our current situation.  But good luck Roy you deserve it and unfortunately need it

I really think Roy will be good for us. (Tho' I was a lil sceptical at first.)

He is a decent bloke who will, I feel, have a closer, more personal relationship with the players
and will be more understanding and able to empathise with them than the previous management did.

IMO he is able to install the confidence so lacking when he took over.

I know some people aren't happy with our draw at Birmingham today, and I didn't see the game but I still have confidence in Roy and trust him, in due course, to deliver.

Someone should tell Hodgson that if he's going to sign quality players like Meireles he should pick them from the first minute of the match not the 76th.

Independently of people knowing their football vouching for Hodgson, which is nice, September is not a month to doubt about ANY manager. Let alone if he's new.

The problems Liverpool have this season, are not that different to those of the past, and I'm afraid most of them are not related to the manager.

we played a birmingham side that no one  beat at their own turf in a year and impressively have the best defensive record at home

Doesn't matter MH it's fkn Birmingham and we are Liverpool. What happened to us having a title winning capable team and it was just a motivator needed to come in?

Anyone know why Merieles didin't start? Was generally a poor performance all round.
