Israel midfielder Yossi Benayoun cannot wait to get started on his Chelsea career after completing his move from Liverpool.

The 30-year-old became Carlo Ancelotti's first summer signing and will meet up with his Blues team-mates when he reports for pre-season training on Monday.

"Everything looks lovely. It is a great training ground and you can see it is one of the best clubs in the world from the way the people here treat you," he told club website www.c.ts.com.

"I met a few of the staff and the players I know a little bit from playing. It is a good challenge for me and I am ready for it.

"There are a lot of good players, big players. For me it is the beginning and I have to work hard and prove I can bring something to this club."

His last appearance for Liverpool at Anfield was against Chelsea two months ago when the visitors triumphed 2-0 to move a step closer to the Barclays Premier League title.

"The last home game I knew it would be my last for Liverpool," Benayoun said. "I tried to do my best but Chelsea were strong.

"All the years here in England, five years, Chelsea were always a difficult side to play against with big players and that's why they are always there at the top, fighting for trophies - that's why I am glad to be a part of it now."

There were other offers on the table for Benayoun but he admitted it was a straightforward choice when the champions came calling.

"I had offers from a few teams, but when Chelsea came in for me it was the obvious and only thing to think about, and I am glad it came out in the end," said the former West Ham man, who has penned a three-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Suppose he could have expressed a fair degree of appreciation to the club and the fans instead of effectively saying, "When I heard of Chelsea's interest there was only one thing on my mind....".

If he had/has said this, then fair enough, he's not such a wee c..t, but it is still Chelsea he's moved to and I could never wish a Chelsea player good luck.

Yossi like nearly every other player at LFC except Reina last season was poor. Yossi had a very good second half to season 08/09 but apart from that he really wasn't that good and was criticised in the same way as both Babel and Lucas. Never thought before January 09 that I would be sorry to see Yossi go but he definitely has something to offer when the team are motivated and playing well.

Good luck at Chelsea Yossi but don't save your best for when you play Liverpool if you can get a game which I doubt!

If the fee being talked about is true, it's good business IMHO. Decent but unspectacular footballer who was much easier on the eye when he was playing than when he wasn't.

For those who want Joe Cole as a replacement (ironically). Skybet, who normally are slow to react to spurious rumours, have just cut the odds of Cole joining Liverpool from 7/1 down to 4/5 on!

There's absolutely no question about it that Joe Cole wouold be a brilliant signing for Liverpool, but given our finances and his likely wage demands I think it's extremely unlikely.

J Cole would and could of been the one player to help us take that last step over the line, someone to unlock those tight defences we had problems with and which ultimately cost us the title - shame we won't get him as it seems he doesn't like to move away from london

Yossi Benayoun has launched a sensational scathing attack on Rafael Benitez, saying the manager was the reason he left Liverpool and that the club is better off for his departure.

Benayoun, who joined Chelsea for an undisclosed fee on July 2, accused Benitez for destroying his confidence and showing him a lack of respect.

He told the News of The World: "I made up my mind to leave a long time ago because of Benitez. He never treated me with the respect I deserved. If I played well, I never felt he gave me credit. When I scored, I still expected to be out of the team the next game. And when the fans wanted me to play, Benitez told me he couldn't understand why."

Liverpool suffered a disastrous season by their high standards last term, falling out of the Premier League's top four and crashing out of the Champions League at the group stage. But despite the lack of team success, Benitez told Benayoun he was not good enough to warrant a place in the team, according the to 30-year-old midfielder.

Benayoun said: "There are many examples of him treating me badly. Last season, against Fulham and Lyon, the fans booed when I was subbed. They thought I was playing well but Benitez told me he was surprised they booed because I was not good enough. It was as if the fans' reaction worked against me. The situation got worse afterwards.

"He told me I was a better player as a substitute instead of starting in the team. Then, when we played Birmingham after I hadn't started a game for a month, he didn't tell me I was starting until two hours before the game. He tried to destroy my confidence. You can't treat a player like this and expect him to be happy. I felt so unhappy but, out of respect to the club, I never spoke out. The players and the people at the top of the club knew how I felt.

"I don't want to speak on behalf of other players at Liverpool, but people know what happened to Albert Riera and Xabi Alonso. It was the same for me. Benitez tried to break me like he broke Riera. I was sure he wanted me to attack him in the press during the season so he could turn the fans against me, so I kept quiet. I felt he was waiting for me to make a mistake so he could use it against me.''

The Israel international was told his time at Anfield was over by Benitez the day before the final game of last season, at Hull.

He explained: "Benitez pulled me to one side after training and said: 'You will not be in the squad for this game. Thank you for your three years of service, now you can call your agent to do a deal with another club.' That's when Chelsea made an offer and the deal was done before he left. I knew I had to get away from Benitez. I could not risk waiting to see if he kept his job and I could not turn down such a massive club as Chelsea. It is good for Liverpool he has gone, but it was too late for me.''

On his switch to Chelsea, Benayoun said: "I'm not stupid. I know they have many great players and it will be hard to play in the team every week. But what's important for me is I know I will be treated with respect. Carlo Ancelotti is a fantastic manager and he knows how to treat players.''

Its so hard to keep squad players happy.  Notice how Riera, Babel, El Zhar and Yossi have all either attacked the previous manager or said they want to leave.

unfortunately, there is only 11 places on the field and unless you were brilliant consistently, Rafa liked to rotate.

Footballers are whingers by nature.

What he is whinging about is rotation, which was one of Rafa's principle strategies until late and all players were 100% aware of this. Its understandable the players didnt like it but now he's trying to dress it up as personal vendetta?
