Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

If he does go and I for one have no idea, you cant say he hasn't given his all for LFC.
HE has, but the club hasn't met his expectations which is understandable.
Like Keegan going to Hamburg, Rushie to Juve, Souness to Sampdoria, they gave their best years to Liverpool and you cant knock their desire to see the world.

Anyway cheer up everyone and lets see what happens.

Igor. Im afraid your wrong.  I have a mate who is pretty close to Gerrard and his mates and he says that Stevie will defo be in Madrid next season and it is 100% his decision.

He would have gone if Rafa was here or not..  its pretty much 100% nailed on.. next season we will be without Stevie

Fuck

Well I suppose that will put to bed the speculation that Gerrard would have stayed had Rafa still been here.

Nobody really can begrudge him the move, it always seemed inevitable. Good luck Gerrard, I hope you get the league title you crave for.

If Gerrard goes I think Torres will too. It would contradict what he said about the club moving forwards and signing better players if he didn't leave.

Sad day if he does leave...

Hopefully because he just renewed his contract, we will get the amount he is really is worth. Anything less than 30 million will be a robbery IMO...

I think he will go too. If we had finished in the Champions League slots we'd have had a good chance of keeping him, even more so if we'd have built on our title challenge of the previous season as he really wanted to win the league with Liverpool I'm sure of it.

As it is though we bombed out and didn't go forwards, infact we leapt backwards. Gerrards 30 now and he probably doesn't fancy playing 24 matches or whatever it is in Europa Cup next season. I don't blame him to be honest, it's a pale imitation fo the champions League.

Unfortunately that's one of the things the new manager will have to deal with. Not only will he have limited resources, but he'll have a couple of his best players gone before he has the chance to work with them. That's not his fault of course, he didn't manage the team into 7th after all, but it'll make his job more difficult all the same. That's even more reason why in my opinion the fans need to back the manager 100%, even if we have a sticky start.

You just cant help yourself can you , every post you have made ,there has been a snide underhanded trying to be clever dig at either were we finished or our previous manager ,
Now its ok by you if Steven leaves because its Rafa s fault hes going isnt that what your trying to say . And then the next thing you say is its vital we back the new manager if some of our top players leave ,because its gonna make his job ever so difficult, Have you listened to yourself.

Has it even crossed your mind that some of our players want to leave because they see no future investment here , If you expect to be playing along side say a David Silva next season and then you are told no sorry dept comes first, of course your gonna get fed up. Any player with a bit of nouse about them will know that as long as these four are here we not gonna be going anywhere soon, There is no future for Liverpool football club while there still here and players wanting out tells me that there not going anywhere soon.

But no some have spun it again because of were Rafa got us to last season, and they dont wanna be playing in the Europa cup, So its his fault again that our players wanna go.
FFS until he came here thats exacly were we were playing .

And i will be gutted if Steven goes but as a few have said i dont blame him but not because of anything to do with were we finished or who are previous boss was ,but the 4 tw.ats who are running this club into the ground,

Back the new manager heis gonna need our backing ,fecking shame a lot of yous didnt think about this last season .one bad season. and concentrate your venom on getting rid of the real problem

Yes I agree, well said. Back onto Gerrard tho, I do think he will go after the World Cup. Yes we can all have a bit of banter about what his reasons are, it might be he misses the old manager, it might be that he wants to play in the ECL, it could be that he doesn't like owners, or it could be that he just fancies a change, or doesn't have any confidence in the new manager, although he'd have to know who it is I suppose. This is the crusial thing for me, not why he is going but what we do afterwards. Also, another reason might be his on/off love in with Mourino.

So if he does go, how much do we get for him? Do we spend all of that money on debt or do we get to go shopping for a replacement? Do we already have a solution to the problem in Alberto Aquilani?

These for me are the real issues, we've defo got to start looking forwards and not back all the time.

I know or at least I think I know I'd be one of only a few, but if we could get 30 million quid for him, at his age (he's 30) I'd defo consider taking it.

Gerrard will always be my favourite player and to be honest as a 24 year old  some one I've always looked up to and idolised ......... if he does have to go then I'll still follow him ........but I'm not resigning myself to it yet.

The club is a mess because of Hicks and Gillett , we are a big name in the world of football;  Realization has kicked in ............but we ll m ove on ; gerrard's not in a red shirt is something that was always going to happen but i didnt think it would be a strong possibility as soon...........

He is a legend defo. He won us the Cup final against West Ham single handed as well as countless other matches as well. To have got his services for free has been a huge advantage for the club over the years.

Well, the England-German result isn't going to help. I could see him sticking around another year if he had a WC medal round his neck, but the Germany disappointment added to Liverpool's current situation equals... :(
