This is meant to be the team. Wilson at left back though? Or Agger? :p

Where did you get that from mate ?
I havent had it yet from the lad i usually get it off.

RAWK, although i'm not certain of it, but i'd sure like to see it.

Some guy on twitter said the exact same team and subs bench!

Looks like a good lineup to me!

Well I'd play this:

                                               Jones

                                Kelly    Soto     Wilson    Aurelio

                                           Lucas     Spearing

                        Maxi                                           Jova

                                             Babel

                                                         N'Gog

subs: Bouzanis,Darby,Robinson,Shelvey,Suso,Amoo,Pacheco

Shelvey to come in for N'Gog/Babel
Pacheco to come in for Jovanovic
Amoo to come in for Maxi

NOTE: Maxi's last chance! If he doesnt show something spectacular (which a player of his calibar should show on a game like this) he shouldnt be a starter untill Kuyt gets back.

that team will get beat by Northampton tonight. They'll be up for it. Roy needs to put some more 1st teamers in or we're gonna suffer.

Give the kids a chance. If they arnt gonna get a chance in the carling cup when are we ever gonna blood them into the squad? If we bring them in big league games and we get stuffed people will be moaning even more. That looks like a good lineup to me.

Jones
Kelly
Agger
Soto
Wilson
Pacheco
Lucas
Shelvey
Babel
Jovanavic
Ngog

If that is indeed the 11, then i dunno lee. I think there's only 2 (or 3) in that 11 that haven't played champions league football.

Jovanovic and Babel went to the world cup.

Lucas and N'gog are regular first teamers.

Soto and Agger are wise heads and know what they're doing

kelly's good enough to come into our first team

Which leaves wilson, shelvey, pacheco and Jones - which tbh should have a problem with a northampton side that are in 17 in league 2  (you cant get much lower without playing non-league teams)

I think they may suprise a few on here just how 'up for it' they are. they'll come at us guns blazing and we'll be under the cosh from the first whistle. However, if  we score first we should score a few.

I can't believe any on here would risk senior players in a Carling Cup tie against Northampton? Seriously.

League cup is not only the least of our priorities but it allows many of the fringe players a run out. Go figure.

Well people certainly can't say Roy doesn't take a chance with his rotation. That is a very iffy team to be going in with in terms of how many first teamers there is, and he is giving the actual first choice lads plenty of time to get some rest in.

Two observations. First, if I'm honest I'd quite like to have seen us play a strong team in order to get something going, get a win, score a few goals. Sure rest Torres and maybe Gerrard, but lets have another run out for Mereiles for instance, another tightener for Konchesky. Equally, we surely aren't going to persist with maxi on the right in the first team, so hopefully Pacheco is the next choice as it looks like he's playing tonight in there. Also, lets have a real proper look at the Greek tonight, and Agger. In central defence we've been poor so far, and at least one of these lads has to play for the first team I think.

Lastly I really lke the concept that we have a first team, and you've got to try and force your way into it. I think later in the season we may begin to see the benefits of the policy.
