Gomez at RB?  ???  ??? Of all the things that we could have changed, the CB pairing was not one of them. If Klopp didn't like Trent at RB (who should have been rested vs. Napoli) he could have played Clyne or even Fabinho there. Unless we see a formation change with 3 at the back, then I don't see the point of removing Trent and playing Gomez there.

I really hope it's a surprise formation change.

Interesting moves by both managers to be honest. Mahrez is one of the best players in the league and Pep has picked him ahead of Sane for this one (and moved Sterling to the other flank). Lovren -on his game- is one of the best CBs around so picking him isnt that big of a gamble from Klopp. Gomez is a bettrr CB than RB but he'll defend better which is what Klopp is looking for. If Wijnaldum has another big game (he always does against top opposition) then it'll be up to our front 3 to take their chances.

About time Klopp makes a tactical change. Let's hope he adjusts well during the game because thats the only other criticism that comes his way.

Gomez is poor RB..And our MF is aching for someone which can run with the ball..we are really struggling gaining ground with just passing..

I don't know what Klopp is aiming to achieve but it's not working..started high tempo created some chances and since mid half we are settling for City possession waiting for what God knows...

We have so many midfielders yet Klopp has managed to run Milner and  Gini into the ground. I agree when fully fit they press better than anyone but both are shattered and can't press quick enough. Should have started with Hendo, Fab and Keita. We need to keep players fresh it's a long hard season.

Salah, Firmino and Mane are not on form at all and it's clear to see. Gomez at RB was a terrible idea.. use Clyne if TAA needed a rest. Gomez looks awkward and makes mistakes at RB he did it so many times last year.

These are the games where your bit jaded and out of form but find a way to win. That's how you win the League and this test is before us in this second half.

Exactly...I thot he won't be starting Milner after seeing him being exhausted against Napoli...yet we managed to over used them  :(  Should rest Gomez and play Clyne today. TAA rightly dropped.

Something is just not right and it is starting to go pear shape now

We desperately lack quality in the middle of the park, our midfield is great without the ball but with it we are bang average. Maybe not today because City are too good but at some point he's got to try and integrate the likes of Shaquiri and Keita into the MF.

Not liking how we play at all...just knocking the balls around with zero penetration

At least the midfield is doing it's defensive job. If the attack was working better we wouldn't be even talking about the midfield.
