i think Smith would come to Anfield......he's been a fan since he was a lad (just like Kewell)

Big Dukes for a number of reasons.

1. I think he is a better and more mature stiker than Smith and he is a class act who creates as many goals as he scores.
2. He is an excellent penalty taker, I've seen him in over a hundred games (he's one of my favourite players) and I have never once seen him miss a penalty and thats penalty consistency we could really use.
3. The fact that he would be playing in a side containing Harry Kewell would benefit Australia by having their arguably two best players playing together and would also mean the partnership could be strengthed for Liverpool when the two play together for Australia.
4. Harry Kewell's signing significantly boosted the marketability of Liverpool in Australia.  Football is becoming increasingly popular in Australia and as yet no one club has established a dominant presence (unlike in many other countries where Man U and Real Madrid are overwhelmingly popular) and so the signing of Australia's two biggest stars would help Liverpool gain a much stronger foothold in the Australian (and as an ofshoot New Zealand) markets.
5. He is a player blessed with a great deal of loyalty, courage, conviction and determination.  Exactly the reasons Leeds are desperate to stop him going to Barcelona and why he is perhaps the only player in their team who can save them from relegation, and exactly the reason I think he would do well at Anfield.

i reacon we could get Viduka, Milner for around 6-7 million.  Seen Milner a few times, looks a class act for the future

milner isn't bad but he needs to mature as a player.  Viduka is an experienced, hardened campaigner who has tasted success (champions league semi-final place and title bids) as well as horrible failure (Australia surrendering a 2-0 lead against Iran to be eliminated from the '98 World Cup... without losing a game.  And Australia surrendering a 1-0 home lead against Uruguay to miss out on the '02 World Cup).

I think he would be a great asset.  On the other hand the arrival of Djibril Cisse would make the need for yet another quality striker small.  Maybe Milner would be a better choice, but I'd rather sign both instead of Cisse.  With Leeds problems it would probably be cheaper for us!

cisse is class (although people said this about Diouf!)

I think (hope) Cisse will do for us, what Henry did for Arsenal........but we need a right winger AND a couple of GOOD defenders...

Am I the only one who reckons Steed Malbranque has all the attributes needed to become an Anfield legend? ???
He is constantly and consistantly impressive!!
Why is his name not included in any polls??
Buy him, buy him, buy him!!

I'm not doubting the class of Cisse, he is quality and regardless of people saying that the french league is a 'mickey mouse' league that does not mean he isn't playing quality football, (how well you play is irrespective of the opposition its just results that may change) but saying he'll do for us what Henry did for Arsenal?  Thats a bit much really.  He is a brilliant young player and is rightly France's first choice behind Henry and Trezguet but he is not THAT good.  I'd still rather see Viduka come alongside Milner (for the right wing) for £12m approx than Cisse alone for £14m.

Viduka and Kewell don't get on well...problem in the camp?
Milner is a must get if Leeds decide to let him go.
seen Cisse played a few time...impressed with his speed and power. Should be a treat once he get used to Premiership.
Agreed with Starbridge above, Viduka + Milner make better sense than Cisse alone

Unfortunately for you guys Milner is staying where he is regardless of which division we're in.  That's straight from his parents so draw you own conclusions.  I reckon you need two new centre-halves, a right winger and a new striker so 4 players.  Dooks and Kewell hate each other so I can't see that one coming off.  Smithy isn't a Liverpool fan but I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave, and why you've evcen included Si Johnson in the poll I have no idea!

And what about Steed Malbranque? ???
Or am I totally over rating him?? Help! I am a huge fan of this
player. Am I the only one? Haybe I misjudged him? Is he *****, or would he and Stevie form the greatest midfield partnership ever, in the history of world football? ???

I remember seeing Smith on a old rerun of a football TV program, Smith was about 14 and it seemed his entire bedroom was covered in Liverpool posters...as for Milner.........i reacon if we offered him a chance he would come to Anfield.......with smith

Yep but at the time Liverpool were the big club in England.  If you did watch that program you'll remember that he said he didn't really follow football but he liked the way Liverpool played.  As for Milner, he's contracted to us until 2008 so he's not goin anywhere especially as he's on low wages.

once you go down....smith for one is going.....he said so himself.  To be honest why would Milner want to stay at a club that will have to sell ALL of it's best players.  You are 30-40 million in debt and will lose 20million in div1

We ARE NOT 30- 40 million in debt.  We are 15 million and that gets paid off at the end of the seaon.  If you're gonna put facts to me get them right.  Smithy will go, I'm expecting that most likely to Newcastle.  Milner will stay he's been a season ticket holder for 10 years and he said himself he wants to grow as a player before he moves on if he has to do so.  He's only 18  HE WILL STAY, watch and see.  As for selling all our best players, fine Dooks and Smithy and maybe Robbo (though he's sh##e) etc will move on but that's what an academy's for.  We have some class players that hardly anyone knows and we will have money to spend in the summer and possibly if reports are correct an investor, never mind what division we'll be in.
