In all seriousness , Gerrard is an unbelievable player and Definately in the top 5 all time liverpool greats imo . What makes him so special is that he has had to play in pretty average sides and still manages to be truly world class.

Hypothetical question here .
Who would you have dropped in the great teams of the 60's 70's and 80's for him to get a start and where would you have played him ?

Early60's - Gordon Milne  Late 60's I would have moved Emlyn to full back and dropped Geoff Strong.

Early 70's - Brian Hall     Late 70's Callaghan/Case - I would have hated doing it but Gerrard is better.

Early 80's - Sammy Lee   Late 80's Craig Johnstone

To be honest Gerrard would have been a great player in any era, and would be one of the first names on ANY teamsheet from any era.

It might have been easier to answer who I wouldn't have dropped for Gerrard  :D

I think i'd pretty much a agree with all that saint . Some of them midfields with Gerrard in the side would be simply mouthwatering.

agreed. another debate... who would you put with Gerrard in today's team from yester year playing a flat 4 in midfield?? where would the greats fit around him?

Souness, Dalglesh, Barnes, Lee, Highway, Weelhan, kennedy...

sorry for a little lack of knowledge... my history is good but not great... I am 20 so dont jump down my throat for missing the odd legend. Plus its nearly home time n im nackered.

Back to Gerrard, a legend, gave me my 2greatest sporting night, home to olympiacos (at the game) and watchin Istanbul on the TV.

Captain fantastic, make me sick when people doubt him and slate him, his cannot be fantastic and carry us every game.
