These players in a 4-4-1-1 formation with gerrard in front of the holding mascherano and alonso with a liscense to go forward and support Crouch the lone striker... That my friends is our best team we can possibly put out! (Aurelio in for Arbeloa) 2-0 the reds!!!!

Depending on how things pan out, this would be roughly the same as my pick, though with Alonso instead. If it works, I'd expect Rafa to stick; if it doesn't, then I'd expect it to shift to a formation like the one I posted in the Chelsea V Liverpool thread. 3-5-2.

but if Finnan was injured I'd play a back four of:

Arbeloa    Carragher    Hyypia   Agger
