RYAN BABEL to join Hoffenheim

anyone else think a straight loan of babel to ajax is a bad idea? i mean, he's a bit pants but at least now and again he does something like score a goal, make a bit of a nuisance of himself, win a free kick or what have you. and without him on the bench it is even weaker still.

surely a better option would be to agree sell the fecker to them and begin to line up a replacement now. i'm hoping at least that benitez is lining up some other loan deal or exchange or some other way of filling the gap in the increasingly threadbare squad.

Yes and because for the reasons you mention. If we were able to bring from the Spanish league any of the dozens of players who can do a better job, and cheap, then yes, straight loan.

What's happened to Reyes? We should bring him on loan. He can't be half as bad as Babel.

Instead a man with an ipod we'd have a perpetually smiling Spaniard who doesn't get the english spoken in the dressroom (1).

I like Reyes, but he's a man to remain in Spain. Too local.  :D

In Benfica he didn't play bad I heard, but there was not agreement at the end because Benfica didn't want to pay enough, and this season he's gonna play for Atletico Madrid.

(1) Whatever Carra said Reyes would have this face

There must be someone from La Liga we can bring in on loan. Do loans fall into the transfer deadline too or can they happen at any time?

What pis.ses me off is he didn't even realize that he had underperform and that's why Rafa is not playing him. For me, Lucas is sh.it, but i think he works hard in practices and thus Rafa continues to give him chances to play. Lucas did tried to play hard but just not good enough. As for Babel, if he is more humble in the interview saying that he underperformed this season and will fight for his place, i would be willing to be more patient and give him another chance. But based on what he said, the remaining bit of respect or hope from me is gone. Sell him while he still is worth something.

When we signed him, I heard a Dutch correspondent giving an insight into Babel in a radio interview, and was surprised that we seemed to be signing him as a wide-left player as he was more in the style of a certain Thierry Henry. This was in as much that he liked to cut in from the left to shoot, although he had a low goal scoring rate.

To be fair to Babel, I don't think he's ever been given a chance at playing in his preferred role but that doesn't excuse the fact that he is undoubtedly one of the laziest cowards I've ever seen playing for Liverpool in the last 15 years. I wouldn't lose any sleep over Babel leaving, but not on loan, just sell, and accept the loss we will inevitably make.

It's too late for loans just as for signings, next possible time is the January transfer window.

I think on the right is where he should be played but we already have Kuyt there. As you say though that is no excuse. Yossi found himself in a similar situation but he didn't whinge, he forced his way into the first team which is what Babel should be doing. He lacks the motivation both on and off the pitch.

Not sure you have read what st mike said mate, as it states that he cuts in from the left like Henry.
Dirk plays on the right  :D

Anyway i can see everyones issue regarding his attitude, to say its poor would be an understatement.
I still think with our squad being so poor we could do with giving him a go in a position that he favours.
Because we are going to need him at some point this season and when we bring him in we are going to end up with a player thats massively out of form and totally unhappy.

He favours in the position that Henry used to play for arsenal... Stinky attitude, lazy, no footballing brain, awful touches, clueless  on the  pitch ,and now  in his 3rd season for us.... NO More chance should be given.. for 20 Mil, Keane was given 6 months time and for 11 Mil , almost 3 years of given time is too much...
p.s : not going into Keane's debate, just making an example.

You have to have excellent touch and ball control to be able to play on the left if you are right footed. HEnry had that control, Babel does not.

He looked a lot better against PSV playing on the right.

But when he cuts inside he is then shooting on his weaker foot.

If he is playing on the right he doesn't need to cut in he can just run at players from his good side and feed balls in.
