Get him on a plane to Brazil to have a word with Suarez on how to deal with the media.

He is there already ;)

That's because he's got no where else to go now, since Valdes decided to stay at Barcelona for another season. Next season, I'm sure he'll be back at the old cliche stuff like "difficult to say no to Barca blah blah my family blah blah". I say we still go for Mignolet.

Totally agree. Pepe needs a genuine threat to his position so that we get the very best out of him.

Mignolet will not sign for us to sit on the bench. Thibaut Courtois has signed for Atletico Madrid. Mignolet wants to be Belgiums number 1 he wont do that by sitting on our bench

10 mil for Mignolet seems to be our strangest deal this summer if it happens, especially with Valdes staying on at Barce and Reina claiming he's staying here.

I think the signs are that LFC want Reina off the wage bill and might try and flog him to someone other than Barce if Mignolet signs.  Agree there's no way Mignolet will sign to be on the bench - he's been quoted somewhere as saying he wants to move to boost his International chances ahead of next summer.

The Gk situation at the club is quite interesting. Assuming Reina stays (which seems very likely atm), we'll have two decent goalkeepers who would probably start for most of the other sides in the country if not Europe. Reina hasn't been his usual self the past 2 or so seasons but he's still one of the better goalkeepers in the league imo. I'm not sure Mignolet would be an improvement but he would certainly provide Reina with some competition for the starting spot. That said, and if reports are to be believed, would spending 8-10mill on a backup goalkeeper who will probably earn 50K+ a week to sit on the bench be the best idea given our finances ?

The other side of things is that Mignolet is being signed to start for us with the club looking to offload Reina. Getting the Mignolet deal sorted out before having a deal in place for Reina weakens our bargaining position considerably. Ideally, we should be getting more for Reina than we would be spending on Mignolet but I can't see that being the case unless PSG, Monaco or one of the top spenders come in for him.

Reina will attract attention from other teams most noteably PSG and Monaco but i think h has got his heart set on Barcelona but knows he cant make the switch until next year. That is unless its a very smart move by Barce by Valdes claiming he is staying for a year to drive the Reina price down, The fact that he isnt actually needed.

Arsenal will be another possibility for Reina, Wenger still needs a decent keeper and he's courted Reina in the past.  Wenger will be all over this if Mignolet signs I think.

Agree though that Reina probably has his heart set on Barce.

What does anyone know about our finances other than those who work within FSG themselves?

I disagree. If we're to sell any player, I rather the replacement be sorted out before the sale otherwise we may leave things to the last minute and be forced to pay a higher fee for the replacement especially if it approaches deadline day.

A bit much I would have thought?

12mil for a GK. I think he is a good player but £12mil is a lot of money with the possibility that Pepe might not leave.

Our priorities seem a bit mixed up at the moment

Reina surely must be going? Something's got to be in the pipeline if we're spending this much on a keeper!

I agree, that's too much money, but it's a good thing if we've signed him, because I'm sure Pepe will sell us out sooner or later (this season or the next) despite what he says.
