I would think it highly unlikely that Wenger would spend £23m on a keeper so wrote that rumour off as laughable. Arsenal barely ever spend more than £10m-£12m, what chance they'll break their own record for a keeper?!?!?

I am more worried about us being linked with Brad f in Jones (28, 29 in March) and Adam f in Federici, the latter who has like two appearances in the Premiership and would have been pinched by a mid-table or Premeirship struggler by now if he were worth us pursuing.

We have a top keeper, we don't need to start bringing in more, although Rafa did tend to bring in more than we ever needed (Cavalieri, Carson, Martin, Itandje to name four off the top of my head besides Reina)

Another gem from  Not Lucas Leiva on twitter
Pepe turned up to training in a full Lacoste trackie. Just looked at all of us and said 'and what lad?'. As scouse as they come

I notice Pepe keeps being referred to as Jose in news reports today. Does he have two names, or is Pepe a nickname? It seems silly why he is being called two different names in the same news report.

His first name is Jose, his full name is Jose Manuel Reina, but they nickname him Pepe for short.

Funny how the media discard his world class save he did against Rosicky. I can't blame Pepe, he has done so much for Liverpool and its been a while since we have seen him do a mistake like that! For me all is forgotten, he is still a top goalkeeper.

Pepe is a world class GK and a top bloke, the blunder would have hurt him badly. :(

It was a poor mistake but just one of them things.
He doesnt make many.

Felt sorry for him, but he'll be back to his best soon enough.
I think he should have played before yesterday to be honest. He may have been with the Spain squad training throughout alot of the summer but he hasnt played a game for ages and that could have been a reason why he made that mistake.
Rustiness i mean.
Sabre looks like a big lezzer

i'm wondering if the shoulder niggle which was putting a question mark over his participation in the game might have had something to do with his decision not to punch, or at least made him hesitate for the fraction of a second it takes to transform a routine act into an almighty balls up.

It was just a complete fluke.
Ball hits the post, he's in 2 minds to catch or punch and his momentum takes the ball into the goal.

Reina panicked and fumbled it in. Every goalie makes mistakes and our makes fewer than almost anyone in world football. The Arsenal fans think it is justice for Reinas cheek when he put the Barcelona scarf on Fabregas, and perhaps it is, but hey ho thats life  :;):  Hes still a mint keeper at the end of the day.

The headline maker was the own goal, surely you can't be surprised at that?!?! We were heading for a 1-0 win, the keeper puts the ball in his own net to gift the goners an equaliser and you think it's funny the media focus on that?!  ???

It was a mistake, all keepers make them to varying degrees. Bottom line is you can't rely on keeping a clean sheet, you need to score more than one goal in a lot more games. That was where we came unstuck last season, especially in CL, and where we may well come unstuck in the EDL this season.

Reina wants out as Hodgson joins "Great Dane" chase

Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina is rumoured to be unsettled at Anfield and has reportedly alerted the Reds hierarchy to his state of mind with manager Roy Hodgson subsequently joining the chase for Aalesund goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard. It is understood that the highly rated Danish stopper will seek a move to one of the Premier League's top clubs in January.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and  an un-named Spanish club are thought to have joined the race for Reina who has been linked with a move away from Anfield since the start of the summer.

Lindegaard, 26, is also being monitored by Arsenal, as well as Aston Villa, Manchester United, AC Milan and Bayern Munich, however, no formal bids have been lodged with his club. The goalkeeper is now actively encouraging offers as he looks to seal a move to top European club in the January transfer window.

Sir Alex Ferguson has sent goalkeeping coach Eric Steele to watch the player on a number of occasions while Arsene Wenger is monitoring the stopper. Villa have emerged as an option with new manager Gerard Houllier an adamant fan. It has now also emerged that Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has sent scouts to watch the Dane with fears rising at Anfield that Reina could quit the club.

Sport.co.uk understands that while Lindegaard is eager to play in the Premier League, it depends which clubs make approaches for him with his representative admitting he is open to other top European leagues with Milan and Munich registering their intent.

The agent of Lindegaard Michael Stensgaard told Sport.co.uk in an exclusive interview:

“It is difficult to talk about his future. At the moment he is playing well and is with the Danish national team. That is where he will stay for the moment, until a club come in with an official offer (Anders) is just focusing on his club and country, not speculation. “ He continued.

“There are some interesting clubs following him and he is an interesting talent. He has been suited to the Premier League for many years and he is suited to all of Europe’s top leagues. He is very good with his feet and he also stands up as a traditional English keeper, he is not just a good shot stopper.

Arsene Wenger is also a rumoured suitor following the underwhelming performances of Manuel Almunia, but the former Liverpool and Southampton stopper Stensgaard refused to rule out his client moving to another league in Europe.

“The Premier League is a possibility but if other teams from other leagues come in for him we will look at it.” He concluded.

WTF is going on. Pepe is part of the spine of the team, he is as important as Gerrard or Torres. FFS get Hodgsen out of there he is wrecking this club.
