We have a make or break (looking) set of league fixtures coming up. How many points will we get?

Next 10 league games (and last season's corresponding results)

Aston Villa (a) D0-0 W1-0
Tottenham (h) W3-1 W2-0
Stoke (a) D0-0 D1-1
Wolves (a) n/a D0-0
Bolton (h) W3-0 W2-0
Everton (h) D1-1 W1-0
Arsenal (a) D1-1 L0-1
Man City (a) W3-2
Blackburn (h) W4-0
Wigan (a) D1-1

08/09 P9 W4 D5 L0 F16 A6 PTS 17 (out of 27)
09/10 P7 W4 D2 L1 F7 A2 PTS 14 (out of 21) EDIT 10/02

And where do you think your points prediction will leave us in the league?

Last season in January and February when we dropped points and the mancs overtook us, we played Stoke away, bitters at home and Wigan away and drew all three. Our home win against Bolton was followed by the 5-1 at SJP just before that poor run. We don't start this run at the top of the table, we are behind in the race for a top four finish and can ill afford more defeats or even too many draws. Our run after Boxing Day last season was P10 W5 D4 L1 F19 A9 PTS 19, we need to start putting out a 70% win rate (or better)

i believe we are about to turn a little corner and see some improvements, though i don't think its enough just yet to see off villa and spurs in these games. i think we'll either draw the pair of them or lose to villa away and just beat spurs at home. so maybe a maximum of 3 points off those two games. after that i think we'll have a little run of beating stoke, wolves, bolton and everton, so a nice 12 points more there. arsenal will probably then beat us and we might only get a point from city at  theirs so it might be just 1 more point there. then we'll beat blackburn and wigan without too much fuss to get another 6 points from the last two games of the ten.

a total of 22 points out of 30 then. not title winning form but hopefully enough to start dragging ourselves out of the sh'ite

I think we'll be unbeaten in the 10 matches, 24 points.

That's a draw v Villa, win v Spurs, win v Stoke, win v Wolves, win v Bolton, win v Everton, draw v Arsenal, draw v Citeh, win v Blackburn, win v wigan.

It's a sobering thought that these results will only get us back into the mix for fourth.

The tipping point has been reached. If the players want to reach fourth at least, they will have to take games by the scruff of the neck and frankly ignore Rafas systems, tactics, formations and baffling decisions.

If we can go on a run of eight games pushing to win all of them we can start to worry the top three again & banish early season woes. A couple of inspired buys in January wouldn't go amiss too. Gerrard needs to speak out in defence of the manager & maybe shame the owners to pump some well neded funds in the direction of the Spanish one.

A last ditch winner to get us off to a good start, probably only the second or third toughest game in that 10 game sequence but winning it is a good tonic. A win in the FA Cup and then at home to spudz will start a winning run
