Dalglish wrote:FACT - Chelsea aren't as good as the Arsenal side of 2002/03 or the united side of 1999. A decent side yes but with every position filled twice by internationally recognized players it's little wonder they are beating all comers (except LFC in the CL of course :D )

Tonights game was proof positive of how far LFc have come in sucha  short time and all this done without Alonso and an established number 9 :p

I think this is perhaps the most exciting take on our performances to date...  can you imagine playing like we are now plus having a lightning quick and skillfull specialist rightwinger knocking in crosses to a striker who can bang in 20 goals a season?

Even if we dont sign a single new player in January we have the squad to keep consistent clean sheets and more than enough firepower to snatch a single winning goal a la Chelsea last season.

With our form in the prem at the moment, its not so wishfull, especially if we keep winning and Chelski draw a few, we are suddenly a lot closer.

Form is temporary, class is pernament. I'm not saying that we're sh1t but in order to win the league we would have to win every game from now on until the end of the season. That isn't going to happen and Chelsea would have to lose a couple of more games which past history shows that they aren't.[last season they lost 1 game].

I'm all for optimism but be a bit realistic. When we drew with Birmingham, lost to Chelsea, Fulham and Crystal Palace not many were saying that we would finish in the top four let alone win the league.

This league is a marathon, not a sprint and theres a hell of a lot of games left to be played.

Just finishing in the top three and good Europe/FA cup run would make me more then happy for us this season.
Next season is where the hope lies for me in mounting a truly serious challenge
Course i wouldnt be unhappy if like 25th May,  miracles in the Premier league happened this season  :D

I must agree. Chelsea will continue to win games. And so will we. Catching up with them is going to be hard. Only us and Man U have enough strenght to beat them. Maybe Arsenal and Spurs on their day. I couldn't care about Chelsea. If they win, so what? They have no soul, no heart, no passion. And that is what football is about. Boring football without passion that is Chelsea. All built on russian bloodmoney.

Im glad you respect us, cos we play a brand of football that doesn't hinge on thuggery. I hope he gets what he deserves after the tackle he gave us. Lucky he came away from that match alive, tbh. If it was at Anfield, I'm positive he wouldn't have made it out of the carpark!

TBH, I have a lot of respect for Mourinho's abilities. Raineri had used more money than Mourinho in bringing many players at inflated prices but the did not manage to get Chelsea to become a consistent team.

Enter Mourinho, who bought Carvalho and Ferriera from Porto, and Thiago and Drogba from another club - Cech and Robben had alredy been secured and he cleared out Veron, Crespo, Geremi and several others on loan and some released. He got these players to gel together and play exactly the way he wants and Chelsea had been transformed from a strong team with potential into a strong and consistent team. Entertainment may have been foresaken but the players are showing hunger and consistency, despite having to manage all of those large egos and not being able to please everybody.

He is a bit arrogant but there is no denying that he is one of the very top mnagers around.

It's nice to read threads like this from a rival supporter who is fair and not a wind-up.

Chelsea's fate is in their own hands, and they should again win the EPL this season. Rafa has done well, considering he does not have the obscene transfer budgets like Mourinho or even Ferguson and Wenger. Also, there are still very average players at Liverpool who Rafa has to make do with at the moment.

Essien is leading a charmed life, he can get away with horror tackles at will, it seems. Hamann said that it was the worst tackle he ever received yet Essien did not apologise and in replays it certainly looked intentional. It is a pity that a player who had shown so much abilities at Lyon is a thug on the field.

Bring back Roy Keane and let him sort him out I say!  :D

That was a very dirty tackle, straight red, 3 match ban the lot. It's a shame the assistant or the ref himself didn't see it. Lucky Didi wasn't injured tbh, hang your head in shame Essien you dirty pr1ck.

nevertheles i felt totally compelled to say a few things based on our new found rivalry and tonights game;

1. i apologise on behalf of chelsea fans for michael essien's tackle...it was disgraceful and i will be writing in to the club to show my distaste.

2. your manager has ours in his pocket, a source of continued frustration for me i must admit.

Welcome to the forum mate, its intersting when rival fans come on here with sensible and valid points.

TBH there is no way in the world i can see us winning the league this season, i dont think you will drop enough points and although we are now looking really consistent we are not going to win every game.

We are all waiting in anticipation to see who Rafa can bring in, in January.
Hopefully if we get cover at the back and a quality right sided player then we can carry on progressing.

You are dead right about the Essien tackle, it was a shocker and Hamann is lucky he is not finished in football.
All managers try to protect there players but if Mourinho thinks he can condone that sort of tackle then i am genuinely shocked.
I hope he has the decency to look at it again and at the least fines Essien, i would expect an apology from Essien to Hamann as well.

If I'm honest, I still think we are miles away from winning the Premiership.  Sure the improvement is massive, but if you look at our games, especially against the better sides, we do not look like scoring.

Last night, we defended brilliantly, I think Chelsea's only real chance fell to Robben. We looked brillinat at the back.  When our defenders did struggle, Reina was massive.

But really.. did anyone ever think we where going to score against Chelsea.  Our defence is great but theirs is better.  Mainly because we where playing the clown Traore.  Risse spent the whole game covering his :censored:, when he should have been trying to get forward more.

We seriously need a world class striker, someone who only needs half a chance to score a goal.  In the past when we had Robbie or Owen, no matter how we where playing you always thought we had a chance,  NOW.. we can play brillinatly all game but hardly have a shot on target.

I hope in Jan, we bring in some cover for Sammi and Carra, a wide right player but more importantly IMO, is a striker in the same class as Henry, Van Nistleroy or Owen (to name but 3).

I don't want to take anything away from last nights performance, as I thought we did great, but winning the Premiership is still a couple of season away.  I hope to be proven wrong.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

I still can't get over the fact that Mourinho said the Benitez was overreacting to the tackle laid on Hamman. This guy is completely clueless. I wonder if he is going to retract those comments, see if he is man enough to admit he made a mistake. Bet you not, that's why he is a coward, and thats why you Chelsea fan's admire us so, cos we are the most successful club in England and most successful British club in Europe, ad we did it without thuggery, and d!ckhead managers. Thats why you respect us, and we respect you so little.

The worst tackle Hamann has ever received. That speaks volumes. Only glad that :censored: did not end his career.
