Opting Alonso and Garcia on the bench is merely a precautionary measure as they have been picking up knocks recently and its always good to have Alonso avoid picking up his 3rd yellow card. We have enough quality midfield players to compensate for his absense for such a game anyways.

we need more pace in da team,so i think that kewell might get that chace over zenden,but then again zenden does offer us more as i think he has been a gud buy and been very productive,but he isnt very pacy,but again wish da lads all da best

Crouch is a good lad but he couldn't hit a cows ar$e with a banjo. Morientes is starting to show true potential and Cisse is beginning to prove to the manager that he deserves to start. That is our BEST strikeforce. Fact!

Currently the Gerrard, Alonso and Sissoko are always starters, in my opinion Riise is still the best option on the right until some other player (Zenden\Kewell) start showing otherwise on a regular basis.

Warnock is as a much better defender than Riise and Traore (obviously!), although he needs to improve on his forward thinking and technique. It would be nice to see him become a true challenger to Ashley Cole as Englands #1 left back.

Finnan, Carragher and Hyypia are permanent starters also.

This team is stable, balanced and effective currently in all competitions. I agree some games require a different formation and tactics but for the majority that is the team that will push us closer to achieving the form we all dream of.

Just listened to interview with Rafa on sky sports and he was indicating that he might start with Crouch and Cisse up top. agree that the left hand side will be where selection woes will occur. i think Riise at the back and Bolo on front of him could be worth a shot tonight.

It would be suicide to put a weakend team out. Real Betis are no mugs (as Chelsea found out) and if they managed to sneak off with 3 points that would leave us needing points at Chelsea and to be honest we can do without that at this stage we have important games coming up as it is without making it even more difficult. I say don't let josemi anywhere near the pitch and have Garcia playing, Betis struggled against him in the away game.

Was effective,but had a lot of people scratching their heads before kick off!
