LIVERPOOL VS ARSENAL - Build up.......................

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

maybe Arsenals weak defense could give our strikers the confidence they need to take into the Man utd and Benfica matches?  i'm going for 2-0 to us and Crouch to get both.

last season when we played at home, they could not contain our high tempo football especially in the first half,i hope to see us replicate that again.

i think we'll turn them over Tuesday....Arsenal are a spent force now.  Apart from Henry and Cole, they're very average.

dunno about that, Arsenal are still very capable of wiping the floor with teams and on their day can still be excellent, their not as good as they used to be but they are still a good side. Infact it would be no disgrace to lose to them. Im confident we will win the match but to dismiss Arsenal as average would be very wrong and i doubt Rafa will underestimate them.

i don't think Rafa underestimates anyone to be honest.  Even against TNS in the Champions league qualifiers, he was wary of complacency

Arsenal's weak defence... check the league table.

You can't even get the facts right when they're noted...

Rumours of Arsenal's demise are unfounded and downright idiotic. Wenger's team is mearly in a period of transition and currently riddled with injuries, however I believe we can go someway to overtaking them in the pecking order with this match.

I think Tuesday's game will be a true test of our credentials to move into the 'top 3' bracket, which recently belonged to Chelsea, Man U and Arsenal.

I really want to see an accomplished performance against Arsenal to really show we are a side that can have aspirations for the league title (b4 i'm pounced on, those that said we can win it this year, get real). This season has been great against the 'poorer' sides (apart from the odd blip) - however we have really struggled to do it against the bigger sides, both away and, for me, more notibly at home where we are usually extremely tight in giving points away.

Following his ommission yesterday, I believe Crouch will get a start, alongside Fowler. I also reckon Hamann will retain his place as Momo is very hot-headed and Arsenal are renowned for winding teams up.

My concerns (apart from the obvious scoring issue) currently lie with Alonso and Riise. Alonso has looked particularly poor with his passing lately, being wasteful in possession and I think a rest is needed. I was also surprised yesterday to see Riise being skinned for pace on numerous occasions. Arsenal would certainly look to exploit this.

On the back of a good performance it would also set things up very nicely for the game on Saturday were I am praying we can absolutely tw@t the Manc c*nts.  :grinning:

To be fair, we haven't played on a decent pitch for a couple of weeks, and Alonso hasn't been able to play his game because of this, and Riise never has had pace to begin with, he passes players with his head.

I won't be suprised if this game was a draw..... But if we can keep it tight and compact at the back, we should be able to nick it.

- I hope to see hamann continue at midfield as his calm and composed game is a real plus....

- Fowler has to start.

- Prsonally like to see cisse partner fowler as cisse's pace will cause a lot of panic in the makeshift arsenal defence (which fowler will exploit).

                    Dudek
   Finnan    Carra   Hyppia   Riise
                  Hamann
      Gerrard     Alonso    Kewell
               Fowler   Cisse

BTW, whats the odds for a "fowler 5 minute hatrick".......  :D

Agreed, I think Alonso just looks tired and is in need of a rest.

With Riise, he was just found wanting so many times yesterday and ball were being peppered into the box from his side - it struck me as alarming!

teams have beaten arsenal because they have put them under pressure in the last third . if we let them have the ball they can still really play.  henry will always be a threat against sami because of pace.

stop the supply and you can stop henry that is why i think sissoko will run around and rough them up.. also rafa could drop xabi for hamman. xabi has looked tired imo and didi would sit .

                                    dudek

          garcia    gerrard hamman sissoko     kewell
                                 crouch
