ALT isn't a bad player but he doesn't have the match fitness to start yet, however it wouldn't hurt if he was put on the bench.

Smicer isn't a central midfielder, he's played in that position but prefers to be played on the right.

how do you know he prefers to be played on the right ? Did he actually mention that ?

I know he plays support striker and central midfielder for czech republic.

He was awesome when he played there for us last season... so why isn't he a central midfielder....  ???

Yes he mentioned that otherwise I wouldn't said that.

He was awesome when he played there for us last season... so why isn't he a central midfielder.

So what you're suggesting is that we play Smicer as a Central Midfielder against Leverkusen again? The last time we brought on Smicer we lost to Leverkusen remember?

Smicer doesn't even have the match fitness to be considered playing in such an important role.

getting back to topic...if we don't score against leverkusen now...we don't deserve to go thru.

http://foxsports.news.com.au/story/0,8659,12320120-23215,00.html

BAYER Leverkusen has received a hammer blow ahead of Wednesday's (AEDT) Champions League match with Liverpool.

Its skipper, 31 year-old German international Jens Nowotny, has been ruled out with a suspected cruciate ligament injury.

Nowotny hobbled out of Saturday's 4-2 win over FC Nuremberg after 77 minutes and is expected to be out for the rest of the season.

"It is not 100 per cent certain but it looks like a cruciate ligament injury," said sporting director Rudi Voller.

There are fears that this latest knee injury could end Nowotny's career.

If the cruciate ligament injury is confirmed it will be the third time the player has sustained the same injury in as many years.
