Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

my point was you can't state that a team will not win any major competitions with a player like Milner when the said player has won 2 premier league titles and an FA cup and a League cup in recent seasons. Whatever part he played however insignificant he still was part of that team.

Yes for Citeh Milner was a bit part player but for us it seems like is a key figure and one of the first names on the team sheet thats the bloody difference

Exactly, I'm sure all of us given a pen, a piece of paper and 20 minutes could probably come up with a team of title winners that would be possible relegation candidates. I'm not saying Milner falls into that bracket but he's not the Souness/Keane/Ya-Ya/Viera type that you build title winning teams around either.

I am struggling to come up with words to describe that performance.

I have never liked Milner for club or country.
He has always been average to me.
I see no difference in his ability or influence on a match since hes been here.

When he started for City he wa horrible, he only seemed to have an impact when he came on as a sub, they knew how to use him, he wanted to start and that's what he was promised by us.

Milner is a good, versatile,  experienced pro. Would i want him in the squad? Yes. Do i want him stsrting week in week out in central midfield? No

Milner had all the promise in the world when he was at the Villa and was used in the central role there and looked comfortable.
Went to City and the stakes were higher with greater midfield competition in the team so they took him out on the flanks which worked, albeit from the bench.
Now he's at LFC where the claim for a midfield start is nowhere as competitive as it was at City.
Gets the nod from our manager "You'll play every week my son, cause I can't sign anyone better."
-------
BR at LFC is like when Mark Hughes was at City. No matter what MH did he could not sign the BIG PLAYERS.
They got rid and brought in Roberto Mancini - someone who could attract BIG PLAYERS!
They won the PL...

That's it in a nutshell, all these people saying Milner is shyte - he's not, but he's no midfield general either. If used properly (as a utility player) he'd probably be a valuable member of the squad.
The problem is that he didn't join us to be a utility player, if he wanted to be a utility player he may as well have stayed at City (who wanted to keep him) and be a utility player at a CL club who actually win things.

And you managed to turn that post into a dig at another poster. Which is closer to topic? :D

Milner on £120k a week? Dig away, I say.

Trying to find a gif of his corners yesterday. There's a particular one that I'm trying to find, not as bad as Aspas but pretty close.

How bad is it, that we have spent 200 million pounds in 2 seasons and dont have a free kick specialist or a guy who can take a threatening corner

Mate, we don't have a midfield, never mind specialists
