yeah i thought him and sterling really impressed.
what i liked about aspas was that he chased everything down like he really meant it, he tried his damnedest to turn poor balls into good ones and he was constantly  on the move. hopefully he`s like that all the time and not just trying to impress on his home debut.
sterling seems to be a bit stronger and a bit harder to shove off the ball this pre season and he looks a far better player for it, loved that 40 yard run where he stayed on his feet despite getting his shirt scragged and powered into the box.
if we keep suarez (which i dont think we will, we arent the type of club who holds unhappy players to their contracts) and bring in this nutter from spain and papadopolous we`ll deffo be in the shake up for 4th.
the way the fixtures have landed who knows, may even be higher.

on the contrary hard work is essential, without hard work you will win f##k all (as the old adage states `hard work will beat talent if talent doesnt work hard`).
the idea is marry the two (talent and hard work).
look at barcelona, not only do they have very skillfull and even gifted players they are also one of the hardest working teams out there (especially when they are trying to win the ball back) and thats what you need,  what i dont want is a team full of workhorse players that can only do one thing - put a shift in.

A good home debut from Aspas, showed a lot more than I expected.

However, I'm still thinking the fella offers more perspiration than inspiration. Agree with RBG's comment that he should prove to be a very useful player for us. Only problem is, especially if Suarez goes, we'll need someone who's a lot more than just "useful".

He looks like a player who is worth £7mil - he will be useful at times but he doesn't appear to be the sort of player that has that extra little something to boost a club forward. Looks like a player a mid table team would sign and fit in to that level. Will be useful to play in the cup games and to rest the top quality players in Suarez , Sturridge and hopefully players like Costa.

Still feel we already had players like that in the squad in Suso/Sterling/ Ibe etc.

Even if you think he's just useful Woof, that's more than can be said than Downing so it is an improvement - and for the price I think we'll get a good deal out of this.

3 goals 3 assists so far, if he carries that kind of form on into the league, he'll be considered more than just useful.

Aspas has arguably been our best player pre season ,he has shown a rapid turn of pace an intelligent use of the ball, and a trickery
we haven't seen since Garcia left, plus he scores goals .Id say for the price we paid Celta Vigo he would have been a bargain if we had
shelled out twice the price.

The signs are encouraging but the opposition we have faced so far in pre season has been pathetic except for Olympiakos who were slightly better than pathetic. Our defence and the goalkeeper have hardly been threatened in any of the matches. Time will tell. The real test starts against Stoke.

He has faced no one of any note yet and he isn't the first player to shine in pre season - Pacheco and Voronin are two names that stick out.

If he does the same against the defending in the prem when he will get zero space and time then he can be a player than can help us.

Watching both him and Sterling together and you can see that Sterling as that little bit extra special about him - Aspas doesn't.

Well the gloom merchants are out in force spreading their joy in just about every thread...thank you so much for "supporting" the club. Part of the fun & passion in supporting the club is to look forward to the new season with high hopes, then arsewipes like Benny have to come here and offer nothing but the negatives...arm chair critics and nothing but a miserable git...now go feck off!  :no

When we were on the verge of signing Aspas alot of people were comparing him to Bellamy, and I think they are spot on. He's quick, intelligent, and scores goals. He's not going to score 20/30 goals a season, but playing off the front man he could get 10/15 which is alot more than Downing could contribute.

He looks like a very clever player ,always looking to drag defenders out of position and capable of beating defenders with those quick feet.
I don't think you could ask for more from a striker mate. I was really impressed with his performance against Olympiakos.
