Of those two videos (which I agree are a better way to get an idea of a player as opposed to compilation highlight clips), I thought he looked better against Espanyol.  Was more active with the ball and his movement was better.  There was also a moment towards the end that was very reminiscent of one of our goals later in the season.  It was a quick one, two, three that sprung a player in from near midfield.  Good stuff.

The video against Atletico, I had read the comments here before I watched so I was expecting a Kuyt like first touch.  Obviously it wasn't that bad.  Also factor in that on a few of the occasions it seems he has a poor touch that the ref immediately is pointing for a free kick.  Oh and it seemed like nearly every time he got the ball the Atleti players made were all over him.  He was isolated but worked his tail off.  Looking forward to seeing this guy play for us.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

I suspect he will play a number of roles but i think he has been bought to compete with Downing for the RW spot and also to spell whoever is playing at the number 9 spot be it Sturridge or Suarez.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was full of praise for new signing Iago Aspas following the 4-0 friendly win at Preston.

The 25-year-old Spanish forward, who was signed from Celta Vigo for £7.7m last month, played the second half for the Reds at Deepdale and marked his debut by curling home the final goal from long range with his left foot.

"Iago works hard; he's got a trick in and around the box and he excites supporters," said Rodgers.

"He's a good guy and he works very hard for the supporters. He drifts well in between the lines and always wants to receive the ball but what I like is that he wants to score goals.

"He's looking to create and combine or go solo by himself and get a shot in. His goal was a terrific strike."

Rodgers' other three new signings also played and, although goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and Kolo Toure had little to do, midfielder Luis Alberto set up Raheem Sterling for the third goal after Philippe Coutinho's penalty and Jordon Ibe's low strike had given Liverpool a 2-0 half-time lead.

"The players have been back for 11 days now and I thought their work-rate, quality and intensity in the game was very good so I'm very pleased," added Rodgers.

"Mignolet was very confident and very composed. He had a great day today. Everything he did, he did it well. And he's already integrated really well and I thought he was solid.

"Toure is a very experienced professional. He's been around for a long time and he's a wonderful player. He's got great experience and he defends really well.

"Then in the second half, I thought the two boys did really well. Alberto fits into the mould of what we're looking to do here.

"We want technically-gifted players who work hard and some of his touches were fantastic. He's incisive with his passing and so I'm very pleased with him."

sly spots.

I think this bloke will prove a few naysayers wrong and I also believe he has a good few goals in him as well, I don't think it will be hard for him to achieve Downing's goal tally.

at first glance he looks like another little gem of a player. Obviousley it's early days but he's impressed in training and he impressed against Preston too.
keep up the good work

Some will avoid this thread to avoid eating humble pie - that is my prediction.  :;):

Just like they do when we win. They'll only be around for the defeats.

I love humble pies. They're my favorites. Coutinho made me eat a big one, I hope the same will happen concerning Aspas.
