No I don't but I don't think he's as bad as you are making out either. I think if the team was set up right with a few more quality players in defence and midfield he would improve. You have to play players to their strengths mate otherwise you don't get the best out of them. Look at Torres this season compared to his previous seasons with us when we were more pressing.

If he was known as bad Johnson at Chelsea why did they try and sign him again before we bought him ? He is off form at the moment but he has the quality to do well .

Agreed.

He should be dropped though at this moment in time, or at the least shifted forwards to see if he can get his attacking game going a bit.
His confidence is shot and he is making some terrible mistakes.
But i do think he is a decent player and one that i certainly havent written off.

Unfortunatly Hodgson will always be in the firing line - if he wants a break he needs to earn it and turn things around .

No all the players dont get a break - they are rightly critisized when they are not playing well or not good enough just like last season .

We will make no progress whatsoever whilst he remains in defence .... possibly one of the worst right backs I have ever seen in all my time at Anfield ....

Was diabolical yesterday ,id drop him and put Kelly in there , the lad needs to sort his head out big time and im not talking about his hair. And yep once his head is sorted jib him from that right back role play him more as an attacking right sider . because he can put a lovely ball in , but defend joke.

I don't think he's in the Top 50 of Liverpool's best defenders of the last 40 years :(

In modern day football there is a sacrifice of defensive ability made to compensate for attacking prowess. Unfortunately for Johnson, at the moment he is providing zero impact going forward which is bringing his defensive deficiencies under the microscope.

Why this is (the lack of attacking impact) is unclear, but he isn't getting forward as often or as high as he used to. Whether that's a lack of confidence or an instruction tactically in unclear, but we have on our hands a player we paid 17 million quid for who is performing like we got him off Wigan on a free.

He needs a rocket up his erse, and we need to find a way to get him into the game and onto the ball in the final third. I'd play him right mid, but failing that he and Roy need to get it sorted and sharpish. His tackle which led to the penalty on Sunday was just about as inept an attempt at defending as you'll ever see. Step one I'd get him to cut his fecking hair, step two I'd give him some extra running. He looks like he's carrying a pound or two to me.

I would make him cut his hair

And I think he is carrying £70,000 pounds too much every week  :)
