Here's a conspiracy theory for you, the campaign to get Giggs voted POTY was to stop Gerrard winning it.

i doubt it was anything to do with gerard , but Giggs defo got the award because ORN put the feelrs out nice and early ... ORN & manc players cam out in the press many times (even very early in the season) and the manc-press journos lapped it all up.

that kind of sympathy campaign tends to gain impetus very quickly, which made it inevitable

Don't be too sure, Gerrard must have been in serious contention or he wouldn't have got the writer's award which may have been a reaction to the Giggs award - to 'right a wrong' if you like. Campaigning last season or season before could have lost divaldo his awards.

Some manc tw @t on a forum I go on was going on about people only remembering winners and "what has Gerrard won". Shows how much he knows, Shearer won the award in 96/97 and Newcastle ain't won FA for years, Ginola won it at spudz who won the Carling Cup, and di-vin noodleboy won it in 01/02 when Arsenal won the league and Man Utd ended potless

Several years too late. He should have won it at least three times by now.

There is being patriotic and then that. And that after Pepe said he would be cheering on Barca.
