the record £350,000 signing on fee might have had something to do with it.

Ryan Giggs has only ever played for one club and come through the ranks of one club and that's Manchester United.

Did Loopy Benny state foreign players come at a price??  (its on page 7..it seems to have gone unnoticed). That comment is either (A).a wind up.. or (B).straight outta idiotville (given the users previous it ain't hard to work out which).

The premium on British players is such that a 10million pound player from here, their equivalent would cost 5million abroad. (perhaps poor Benny is confused)

We spent over 70million on midtable standard British players, we have British youngsters in Spearing, Shelvey increasing the average load on a dreadful squad. In terms of producing quality players, Britain is nowhere near the elite nations. English players get dismantled every 2 years by technically superior foreigners, and yet, we forked out over 70million on players who cant even make the English squad.

We know Comolli paid for this british driven transfer policy, which still leaves Kenny.

It's more than just the transfer fee you fucktard

Toure is on 280 grand a week , the same with Tevez and Augero is on around 250 grand a week - that is the price to pay for the top foreign stars and their "loyalty".

Now the players below that standard are very hit and miss and we have had our fair share of failures.

Money was spent on young talent plus one established prem player , all of them on low wages in comparison. These players weren't bought just for one season they were bought to help us build a future. It has been a rocky start but don't expect them to stop buying potential talent as opposed to the Toures and Augero's that we can't afford

if those wages are true it`s f**king scandalous, last year a load of elderly blind and disabled people had to march (with their guide dogs, wheelchairs etc) in protest because the government were slashing their benefits and council support and at the same time in the same country people are earning a quarter of a million quid for kicking a bag of wind around?
i dont mind players earning a good living but thats taking the p1$$

I'm guessing you can't read - "It is more than the fee"

Alonso was 10 mil 8 years ago - 3 years ago he went for 30 mil

Garcia was 8 years ago

Kirkland was 6 mil and was an outstanding keeper but injury prone

Bent costs money because he scores a lot of goals

What about players like Alfonso Alves costing 12 mil
Kezman 9 mil
Veron 30 mil plus combined
Plus many more foriegn players that have flopped for big money

Include their wages Kerry

Carroll, Downing and henderson were also full internationals whereas Reina, Alonso and Garcia were relative unknowns.

Difference being that England are poor and Spain are European and World champions. So full international of a poor team does not mean that much.

wholeheartedly agree with you, mate. but its not just those on 200k plus a week, its those including some of our own who are pulling in upwards of 80k or even 100k. no one deserves to earn that much money in a week, and most not even in a month, while there are valuable members of the community struggling to make ends meet.

Who are you to say that nobody deserves to earn 'that much money' in a week?

Are you the moral arbiter of finance now?

i agree with him, in this country at least football has gone away from the people who made it popular i.e the working classes. money men have latched onto the idea that they can make big money out of peoples love for their clubs. if a player is earning that kind of money somewhere down the line there are fans paying a fortune for tickets etc

It's madness. If players wages could be controlled, that money could be invested into other parts of the game. TBH, I just don't think about it, because it's synonymous with all that's bad in football.
