Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Man, I just can't wait to be back to where we belong. It feels like it's been forever since we played the likes of Madrid and Barcelona and the others. Let's just keep pushing and getting the wins. And finally, it will be good to go into a transfer market and be absolutely unapologetic about our chances with any player in the world again. Well, almost any anyway.

I won't celebrate until it's mathematically impossible for us to be caught, I remember once under Roy Evans we went into the final game of the season in second place 3 points ahead of the 2 teams immediately below us and we had a healthy goal difference advantage over them too.
That was the famous or should I say infamous 'finish fourth in a two horse race' season, we ended up getting beat about 3-1 or 4-1 away at Sheff Wed (or somewhere like that) and as luck would have it the two sides below us had big, big wins, those were the days when only 2 teams qualified for the CL so it was a huge kick in the teeth, especially considering we'd been neck and neck with United all season contesting the title never mind a CL place.
The club was reeling after that one, we'd spent a lot of money in an effort to try and break into the CL places and earn some big money and to blow it when we had it in the palm of our hands was sickening, it was a terrible summer.
We should make the most of these good times, god knows we've had some kicks in the teeth over these last 23 years, if we do somehow win the league I honestly think I'll be in floods of tears, it's been a long wait, especially to someone of my generation who grew up knowing nothing but triumph after triumph.

My feeling is that Spurs will start to unravel.

They already have.... Their own manager saying they lack character and are mostly worthless.

And I thought they would be a massive threat this season after all that spending when Bale left for Madrid. scary stuff when 120 million pounds makes your team worse off rather than keeping one player.

You look at their lineup against chelsea, and they didn't have a single one of those summer signings starting. I mean that says a lot right there...

That's the problems with directors of football imo, Villas Boas didn't choose who to sign, got players dumped on him and told to make a team. I bet levy was sticking his nose into it as well.

Scary to think some on here were upset we didn't sign Soldado.

I was never quite so worried about Spurs threat. AVB never totally convinced me. Losing Bale and Modric would be similar to us losing Suarez and Coutinho and whilst some fans felt that we should have sold Suarez in the summer for £40m and rebuilt the team I never agreed with that somewhat naive idea. Spurs are proving just how difficult it is to sell quality players for big money and embarking on a new project. Sherwood will do well to see the season out. He is about as convincing as some politicians !!! They are in a bit of a mess to say the least. If they don't get CL football I think they will be selling some of their expensive failures in the summer.
