Michael Carrick has won the premier league 5 times
Steven Gerrard has won the premier league 0 times

Michael Carrick has won the champions league once
Steven Gerrard has won the champions league once

Tell me Carrick is a better player than Stevie

Shame you feel the need to resort to that Stu   You're the one who constantly suggests that stats don't tell the full story and the ones that you have produced certainly don't. Perhaps you should have compared Torres's stats with Danny's. That would have made about as much sense !!

The only one missing the point is you seeing that you try to be smart (not your strong point btw) by suggesting that all those awards/medals that Rooney has won makes him a better player than Sturridge. Yet the same argument can be made when comparing the 2 midfielders which you are trying to avoid by insulting another poster. But as we all know, your head is too far up Gerrard's ***** which might kinda explain why he's been pretty rubbish this season.

Obviously my intent wasn't quite clear as I first thought I'd made it... Either that or you aren't the sharpest of "tools"... which is highly likely. :D

Stats don't tell the full story, not even close.

Thats the point, if someone is going to use a numpty of a stat, a difference of four league goals, once in a career, to wrongly suggest Sturridge is a better player than Rooney... then I can use a lot of stats to prove he isn't.

The reality is, anyone who thinks Sturridge is even nearly as good as Rooney is at very best, extremely misguided.

anyway, back to the CL push...

We've had a good few results today and only Everton winning has prevented us running away with 4th. However, a win tomorrow will put us 4 points clear and 1 point behind the Chavs (I am anticipating a City win on Monday)

A top 4/3 place is ours if we keep our heads. :buttrock

We've been waiting a while for a weekend like this where we can open up a bit of clear ground on some of the teams around us. A win tomorrow puts us 9 points ahead of United, we just can't afford to look gift horses like this one in the mouth, we have got to win!

Man, the game tomorrow will be huge won't it? Very important game that could get us 9 away from United (and possibly ending their top 4 hopes), 5 away from Tottenham and 4 away from Everton.

Come on LeeJ start the f*cking match thread already! I want to post my pre-match predictions and analysis!

With 14 games to go it's too early to rule United out even with a 9 point gap, anything could happen - injuries, loss of form, lose our bottle in the run in etc but a gap that big would certainly pile a crushing amount of pressure onto united's shoulders every time they took to the field.

Frustrating that we pratically threw away the lead we had on Everton already.  Could do with a result against Arsenal and a draw between them and Spurs
