Bellamy was good business at 6 million, that is fact. I would not say that he is not a good player, he is; but he is not what we are looking for at the moment.
If he goes i reckon someone will pay a large percentage of the 6 million investment so we really havent lost anything by signing him.

This is Manhattan's plan.

1- We bought Bellamy for 6M

2- Sell him for 6M and one pound.

3- Then we can save the one pound to buy Chelsea when Roman leaves.

well seing as Fowler scored nearly the same amount of goals as Bellamy in about 1/3 of the apearances, i can see why people, ,myself included wanted Fowler to stay. Let me guess you think Bellamy's good coz he's fast and Fowlers poor coz he's slow. Typical

Fowler wasn't just slow...he was past it and was an embarressment in the league where he failed to score ANY goals in open play. I was away at Everton and i have to say watching Fowler play was like watching a car crash. Bellamy gave 100% and could play on the wing as well as up front.  He had pace and he had fitness...he could play 90 mins running his socks off....Fowler couldn't do ANY of that and he was living off the past, hence no one wants him since Rafa sent him packing.

He's a legend...i accept that, but so is Ian Rush...but i would want him playing up front with Torres next season.

first you say fowler is past it
then u say he is a legend and u want him playing with torres next season
???
or was it ian rush you were referring to?

EXCLUSIVE West Ham to sign bad boy Craig in amazing deal worth £25M
By Alan Nixon 06/07/2007

WEST HAM swooped for Craig Bellamy in a £9million deal last night - and will give the Welsh firebrand a stunning £4m-a-year contract.

Bellamy has opted to join Eggert Magnusson's Upton Park revolution after Liverpool showed him the door and let him go for signing talks yesterday.

Hammers moved fast as they cushioned the blow of losing Carlos Tevez and waved their cheque book around to beat off Bellamy's old clubs Blackburn and Newcastle, plus Aston Villa. Bellamy has opted for a new challenge rather than a Rovers return or a second shot at being the Toon Army's hero. The size of the contract has been a big factor too.

Magnusson is giving Bellamy a four-year deal worth around £16m, making the whole deal worth a staggering £25. But for all of the striker's negatives he has plenty of positives that had buyers queuing up for him. Bellamy landed his dream move to Anfield last summer but after boss Rafa Benitez left him out of the starting line-up the problems started and came to a head with his golf clubswinging attack on team-mate John Arne Riise.

Even then Benitez resisted approaches for Bellamy, but when his money men demanded an end-of-season clear-out to fund the Fernando Torres deal it was all over for the fiery star. Bellamy has been teasing his would-be suitors over the past few weeks. He sent texts to Blackburn players and staff, telling them he was coming back.

Good riddance to Bellamy, what a compete :censored:. I can remember his first few games where he couldn't hit a barn door, yeah real classy player indeed!

He had plenty of chances but has no positional sense and a cr8p attitude, he will not be missed by me.

Even though Fowler is over the hill I would much rather have him in the team for the pure reason that he is intelligent and can help other players with assists.

In any case we have a much better striker now in Torres, I can't believe someone rated Bellamy higher than Kuyt and Crouch though. Obviously not all Liverpool fans are knowledgeable about football  :;):

I'd agree with that.

There's two ways to look at whether or not a player got a fair crack of the whip. On the one hand you could say a player never got enough playing time, but on the other you could say he never made himself indispensible to the team.

I think Bellamy has a bit more to his game than he manged to show for us. He was good business at £6M and offered us the pace we were lacking. With the new owners we are now shopping higher up the food chain, and Torres is most definitely an improvement.

When we factor in the character issues (well documented golf club incident) it seems that the right decision has been made. He is a 'not quite' player in terms of top four standard.

West Ham tell Liverpool: Pay £8m for Yossi BenayounJul 6 2007

by David Prentice, Liverpool Echo

WEST HAM have slapped a staggering £8m valuation on Yossi Benayoun’s head, in a bid to snatch Craig Bellamy from Anfield on the cheap.

Liverpool gave permission for the Welsh international striker to speak to The Hammers last night and he quickly agreed a remarkable £70,000 a week contract.

But after the Reds rejected an initial cash bid of £7m, the Hammers tried to offer a straight swap deal for their Israeli international skipper.

With Liverpool holding out for £8m for Bellamy, the cheeky Hammers instantly valued Benayoun at that figure and suggested an exchange.

But Liverpool only value Benayoun at around half that price.

Further talks will take place today – and Djibril Cisse’s name may now come into the equation as well.

The Hammers want to add the Frenchman to their squad with Bellamy.

Liverpool want a fee in the region of £9m for a player who cost an Anfield club record of £14m when he arrived from Auxerre three years ago.

Marseille are also bidding to make Cisse’s loan spell in France permanent, while Portsmouth have also made an enquiry.

Bellamy did not report back to Melwood yesterday with the rest of Liverpool’s international contingent.

But unless West Ham can reach agreement quickly he may have to return to training with a squad he is clearly surplus to.

The Reds kick off their pre-season schedule at Wrexham tomorrow (kick-off 3pm), and while players like Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher are unlikely to figure, Rafa Benitez will take a mix of senior stars and youngsters to the Racecourse.

The only players not now back in training at Melwood are Harry Kewell, Mark Gonzalez, Javier Mascherano and Emiliano Insua, who remain on international duty for their respective countries, while Fernando Torres will not report for training until July 11.

Benitez said yesterday: “All of the internationals will start training today. We will see how they are, but normally you could expect them to play next week against Crewe.

“We only had five senior players back last week. We’ve had the young players, and you can see the commitment in them.

“Sometimes you have to tell them to calm down because they tackle hard and fight for each ball.”
