BARCELONA 1-2 LIVERPOOL - ALL REACTION HERE......

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Barca Murph » Tue Jan 23, 2007 12:05 am

Just got back from a weekend in BCN. The performance wasn't the best, but took the pts and back to the top of La Liga with a game in hand :)

Someone thinks Belletti is better than Oleguer?   Do me a favour. Oggy had a good game on Saturday, and is by far the better defender of the 2.

Depends on what, as a writer about the independence of Catalunya, Oleguer is better, although I don't plan to read his book in the next 3 years.

Apart from that, I hardly can compare them. I know what Belletti is, a right back. He's called the "Mad goat" in the Barcelona forums, due to his strange decissions in the pitch. He is a right back but with clear tendence to attack. Oleguer is more defensive. I think Oleguer does worse both things as a right back though, attacking and defending. But Oleguer doesn't risk so much balls as the mad goat and that's why he's more popular (among other factors like him coming from the youth system). But if you ask me, and for what I've seen in Belletti's 2 good seasons in Villareal (proof Barcelona signed him up afterwards) I'd bring Belletti to my team any day of the week rather than Oleguer.

As a Centre back, I cannot compare them because I have never seen Belletti in that position. But Oleguer is average at best.

I could also mention that Belletti has scored one of the most important goals of the history of Barcelona, but it's irrelevant, we won't see neither of them against Liverpool.

I prefer Beletti just because an attacking option Beletti gives you far more options.

As for Ronaldinho, he was rubbish at the start of the season compared to the blistering form hes been in in the last couple of years, despite the amount of goals he scored (not sure how many were penalties but im sure there were a few), but now he is playing like a joke, Ive seen him in the last couple of games and he keeps trying his ridiculous flicks with his shoulder which bounce tamely to the opposition and I dont think Ive seen him make a forward run with the ball for a good few playing hours.

Are you watching the same player?  Deco is nothing like Garcia.  Nowhere near as wasteful as Garcia and is a truly fantastic player.

Ronaldinho recently hasnt played to his absolute best but I think people need to realise that his human.  For 2 seasons he was immense and sometimes his form may drop but we all know at any given time he can do things only a small percentage of players can do.

Not to mention the guy has done very well since Eto and Messi got injured.  The responsibility for goals was more or less shifted to Ronaldinho and his done a good job.

Iniesta is the one to watch out for.  This season his really come on.  A fantastic talent.  Speaks volumes for Barca's youth system when Barcelona can lay claim to him and Fabregas.

Edmilson is a good player.  Personally i prefer Marquez in the holding midfield role but he plays CB.

Pah.

Classic prematch mind games. That's classic in Spain, 3 days for the match, and suddenly everybody is recovered. We should prepare the game as if they had everyone, and we shouldn't be afraid.

I've read what Rijkaard actually said, and he didn't say Etoo won't play against LFC, but that he doesn't know exactly when he'll be available.

FWIW, Etoo run 60 m in 8 seconds las week so he cannot be that badly injured. He's training hard.

Hey Larsson,
how is Zambrotta's form this season? because after the world cup he was a bit unfit.

Plus Eto'o will be there as I heard Graham Hunter talking about his fitness, he reckons 1st week of February he will be back in full training.

eto'o is now in recovering sesions, and in one week or two he will be incorporated to the normal training with the team, i think if he don't plays minutes against Valencia he will not play against liverpool.

Zambrotta is our best right back, he is doing a great job, for me is far great than belleti and oleguer, he is very solid in defense ,often is attacking and have great shot,  but now is injured.

lets see today the game against betis, but i think barca is not in their best form

I didnt mean Deco was as bad as Garcia, what I meant was he isnt consistent and tbh there hasnt been too many matches where he has played as well as he did 4 or 5 years ago for Porto. On his day he can be unplayable though.
