Jack Hobbs eh? Not a good performance from him today, for a 6 foot 2 he should have done better in the air against doyle. He just needs some experience. Basically we need to buy an experienced center back this january.

Barzagli or Garay, both of them are young and good players.

There doesnt seem to be much money for transfers now so i doubt we have a chance to get any of them. Maybe next summer.

I wasn't surprised to see him play, I guessed he might. However I expected it to be Hyypia alongside him since Carra was on a yellow and could have missed the manc game.

Just imagine if we lose or draw in Marseille, how much of a downer will that result and tonight's be ahead of the big game? We'll all be praying that the formation isn't a joke, there's no Sissoko and Torres is fit.

With Rafa you simply don't know and maybe he's losing it. To play a rubbish formation is one thing, to have Sissoko in it as well as Mascherano just means it takes two changes to put it right. I felt the same of England, too many changes for a big game that needed too many changes to put right.

Rafa is on the brink of 50 defeats in his reign already, I just get the feeling it will be the 'same old story' against the scum next weekend. Rumours around his job will be rife, tonight's defeat has not helped his cause and simply added pressure for the next fixtures and beyond
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

Another possibility could be Miguel Torres from Real.  He's a versatile player that I believe can play in any defensive position.  He's only 20 years old. I don't know why he's not playing much now, he was pretty impressive last season.

was reading an interview with rafa yesterday and he confirmed that we WOULD be buying a centre back come january. looks like sissoko could well be on his way then, especially if we're looking to sign up mascherano.

also a sign that Rafa does not rate Hobbs as "ready for primetime"

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is confident of sealing a deal for Racing Santander defender Ezequiel Garay.

The People says Benitez has settled on a fee of £10 million for the Argentine youngster, though whether he will move to Anfield in January will depend on the club's American owners.

Bad source but would be great to him here in Jan.

I dont see why we need to run out to a foreign league to bring an Argentinian or a Spaniard in. There are many good central defenders in the PL and possibly in the Championship who could do a job.

Not a proper centre-half, mate. More of a right back that likes to get forward.

Time to look at places we wouldn't normally think of looking at for another big Sami. Goes to show that there are a few gems out there that don't cost the Earth. It's just a case of spotting them.

Price. Any half-decent player in England has his price raised. A good centre-back would cost a fortune from an English club (compare Agger at £5m, Vidic £7m to Micah Richards rated at £18m)
