I think rafa will try to sign Heinze not only because he's a good player and we need a left back, but because he knows it will wind Fergie up no end.

With good reason. Who was happier in 2005 ? chelsea with there league cup or liverpool with ole big ears?

Would people prefer a centre-back or a winger?

I'd spend it all on a winger and hope we can get a cheap backup CB for the rest.

defensively we are sound...so very much in agreement with you...just buy a good winger or striker. Hyppia and Hobb can cover alright

Think we need a vidic type of defender if we wanna move forward...don't know how long can carra carry on if u ask me. Hope we sign the correct player and not just make a rush signing....So if we have to wait until the summer..then i am ok with it.

But like u mentioned....a winger and a goal-scoring striker is a must or more of a priority compared to a CB IMO.

Agger is gonna come back soon.

Have also been impressed with Hyppia.... Looks to almost be back to his back (at least in aerial battles).

As for Hobbs....i don't think he is good enough at this level.

phillip senderos , cheap at most 4 million , good in the air , tall and powerful , reminds me of a young hypia , just needs the experience in first team and can be used as a back up player. he's has fallen out of arsenal as the first choice due to the addition of gallas b4 that he was the first choice pairing with kolo toure

Not sure how much we'd have to pay for him though.

A lot probably.

Sergio Ramos is a great player that plays in the back four, but he's not a great CB IMHO.

Before the Denmark-Spain match, a Danish player Povlsen winded him up before the match saying that it's quite easy to get his back, and I have to agree with him. Ramos is a great player to use in the RB and go to attack, but I think he won't play as a CB in Madrid anymore now they have bought real CBs.

just watched the barca madrid game and i have to say that ramos was really impressive, all be it at fullback. however having seen this pepe guy (who was immense) at centre half alongside cannavaro it's unsurprising that ramos can't get a game in that position at the moment.

i still think he's a quality player though. very young aswell if i'm not mistaken.

that article also claims that we're interested in ujfalusi but according to his agent, he's not interested in a move.
