On-loan Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani is ready to sign a permanent deal with Juventus when the transfer window opens, according to the player's agent.

Former Reds boss Rafael Benitez signed Aquilani from AS Roma for £20 million in August 2009 but the Italy international struggled to establish himself at Anfield.

Aquilani, 26, was allowed to return to Serie A by ousted Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson last summer after just one injury-afflicted season in the Premier League and agent Franco Zavaglia claims his client wants to stay in Turin.

Liverpool are reportedly willing to sell the misfit midfielder, who has ruled out a return to his former club Roma, for around £14 million.

"On June 30 Juventus will be able to buy Aquilani and they should act now," Zavaglia told Italian broadcaster Radio Mana Mana.

"They could sign him by making three to four delayed payments, a system which was established last summer.

"The agreement between Liverpool and Juventus is already there, it all depends on the willingness of Juventus.

"I think Aquilani will stay at Juventus and there will not be any obstacles.''

Agreed, but we can get Charlie Adam in the summer for 6m which would be nice.

Aquilani unsure of future
Juve midfielder open to Liverpool return

Alberto Aquilani has revealed he would be prepared to return to Liverpool if Juventus do not take up the option to sign him permanently.

The Italian midfielder endured an injury-blighted first season at Anfield in 2009/10 before joining Juve on a one-year loan with a view to a long-term deal.

Aquilani has previously made it clear that he would like to stay in Turin, although his agent recently claimed that Juve would have to pay €16million (£14m) to retain his services.

The 26-year-old is unsure where his future lies but insists it would not be a problem to go back to the Premier League.

"The future? I'm at Juve, but I don't know what will happen," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I'm on loan and if I'm not redeemed in any case I'd go back to Liverpool in the best championship in the world. We'll see."

Roma

Speculation has also suggested Roma could try to re-sign Aquilani, having sold him to the Reds a couple of years ago.

Aquilani returns to the Stadio Olimpico to face his former club this weekend, and has vowed not to celebrate if he scores.

He said: "When I went to Juve, I thought: 'What will happen when I have to play in Rome?'

"Sunday for me is a delicate game. I hope that I'll be welcomed with affection, but I don't know if it will happen.

"Certainly if I score, I won't cheer. My memories are all positive.

"Was I sent away? It is not the right word. When they proposed that I leave, I realised there was no more room for me."

Asked about one day rejoining Roma, Aquilani admitted he would be interested, particularly if they are successful under prospective new owner Thomas Di Benedetto.

"It is a delicate question. I would do, but I think it will be difficult," he said.

"As a fan I'm curious to see what happens with the new property, especially if they begin to buy players and to revolutionise the team."

Good player but we dont need him. I'd rather have Charlie Adam at Liverpool. Wouldnt sell him for just any price though, 14 mill is low enoguh.

I think Kenny could bring the best out in him, but if he doesn't wanna come back and fight for a place then we'd be better off finding someone who does.

I wouldn't mind aquaman coming back, if Kenny thinks we could use him then great because he would be a great asset to our team and definitely and option.

I'd rather Aquilani back than Adam, both count as foreigners anyway. But I think he is a much better player not only can he spray the ball but his link up play is great and Adam just doesn't seem that fit. I think Aquilani is a Kenny type player in the pass and move mould.

Aquilani is an attacking midfielder. Adam is a holding midlfielder. In fact Adam is far more of a viable replacement for Alonso than Aquilani ever was.

But Adam isn't that good at his defensive side of the game. Whenever I see him track back he does a job of it. Aquilani isn't just a attacking midfielder, in Juventus he's done quite a lot of tackling as well. He's been very good at linking up the defence with attack.

i do like aqualani but adam is more like what we need atm and also a step up imo.
adam has proven himself in a short period of time that he can consistently perform at this level and aqua hasnt unfortunately.
