You could apply that logic to Kenny signing Andy Caroll for 35M could you not, especially as the Geordie has only had five months of premiership football.

As for Aquilani, I think he has definitely got some talent, he's a 'nice' player to watch, and yes while I do think we paid over the odds for him, when he did appear for us you could see he had a ''footballing brain'' but perhaps not so much the mentality to fight tooth and nail (time would tell tho).

If Juve only offer 5M, I'd personally hope Kenny can do some convincing and get him back over here with us.

KK - Carroll's injury record doesn't even nearly compare with Aquilani's

I not going to debate whether he can cut it at Liverpool, I think I've made my feelings pretty clear on the matter
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Time will tell. £5m would be an absolute rip off tho. I do say get rid, but for the right price

I know where you are going with this and to an extent I agree with you.

I still think he is a good player, but if Kenny thinks that he won't cut it and the likes of Adam can do a better job then fine by me. If not and Aquilani stays he would be a decent backup not more because I don't think he will cut it in England.

Like lakes10 said, big mistake we signed him in the first place.

7 assists and 2 goals in the limited amount of games tells me he was a decent player who would have got even better if he was managed properly.
Would love to see him in the current squad now that were playing attacking creative football

One reason I wanna keep him is that he probably has more vision than anyone else in our squad. His through passes are sometimes unbelievable and would even surprise the spectators let alone the other team. When we are screaming Kuyt to pass it to an obvious team mate who is in the space, Aquilani could pick out a team mate running from deep and lay it nicely on his path. Imagine the potential of this kind of playmaking combined with Suarez running and trickery and also carroll's strength and superiority in the air. For 5 million I would keep him. For 10 million I would also keep him. For 15 million I would probably sell him.

.....................Skrtle.
         Carragher.      Agger.
Kelly.                                Johnson.
              Meireles/Lucas
      Gerrard.           Aqua/Meireles
               Suarez
                         Carroll

532/352 is still the best for us. This formation will be fun to watch.

I'd say keep him. In the limited number of games he played for us, I saw a distinct flair in his game that I haven't seen at Anfield for a while (McDermott?). We may live without him but he would be an invaluable addition to our present squad

opposition will find it really easy to beat any offside trap with Skrtel playing in that position...  :D

i would like to see something like this

--------------Reina
Kelly---Carra---Agger---Johnson
-------Gerrard---Meireles
--Aquilani---Cole----Suarez
--------------Carroll

no mate... Skrtle is suppose to be in centre... as a sweeper... stupid spacing didn't work...

How there can be comparisons of Aquilani's purchase and Carrolls is beyond me. The only similarity is they were signed injured. Aquilani didn't play a game for months FFS! Carroll is due back by the end of the month. Talk about twisted logic.

As for the concept of Skrtel as a sweeper, it's never going to happen. The sweeper system died out a long time ago, primarily because it makes keeping an offside line impossible. The flat back line is a constant nowadays solely because of the offside rule.

How about the price tag of a largely unproven player?

Then hypothetically speaking 12 months down the line we sell him because he didn't produce the goods and beam 'that was an exensive flop, like Aquilani' before him.

it's very much plausible, therefore...

twisted logic, my ar....
