Some people on here dont think Lucas should be in the starting 11 and the reasons they give are that he pretty much lacks what Aqualiani has, yet then they say Aquas not good enough to get in the team?? Why could he not partner someone in midfield like Adam or DeFour next year?
This is his main position not behind the striiker he can spray the ball around alonso esque all day long, im abit baffled when people say he couldnt get in the team.

out of them the only one's i can see moving on is spearing and poulsen and while aqua would provide good cover for merieles or gerrard i cant see him holding down a starting position.
i would like to see him back rather than take a ridiculous price for him.id also like to see adam here as he would press lucas for his place but we will face a dogfight to get him here.
id much rather see some natural wide men arrive before more cm's.

He is a good player but I have not seen anything more to suggest that he is better than Meireles or Gerrard. Gerrard has proved season upon season that he is world class in that attacking position. Meireles is thriving there in the absence of Gerrard or when Gerrard plays deeper. The interchangability of Gerrard and Meireles from holding midfielder to attacking is a perfect combo.
Aquilani will be warming the bench if he comes back, at least until his opportunity to dislodge someone from his favoured position.

The only similarity is they were signed injured. Aquilani didn't play a game for months FFS! Carroll is due back by the end of the month. Talk about twisted logic.
As for the concept of Skrtel as a sweeper, it's never going to happen. The sweeper system died out a long time ago, primarily because it makes keeping an offside line impossible. The flat back line is a constant nowadays solely because of the offside rule.
That's the formation we played against stoke and Chelsea. Skrtle swept everything that managed to pass carra and agger. That's the only way he can be stable right now, the centre in three CB's. He's too unstable as a CB of 2 CB's as we have seen against west brom and numerous matches under Roy.
I disagree. I saw a flat back three (as did pretty much every report on the game).
Mate we will agree to disagree...
playing a sweeper doesn't mean he has to be behind the other CB's or in front, even though traditionally it was in that form. The german sweeper like Beckenbauer was a ball carrying sweeper who initiated attack and hence played in fron of the CB's. In italian Catenaccio, the sweepers are more defensive. It's more of a role in that the sweeper doesn't stick to a marked opponent. In our case Kenny played him like a defensive catenaccio sweeper. If you watch the game... Carra and Agger had more of the ball and they pressured the opponents first. I.E. they were the first line of defensive. Skrtel was hanging around in the centre most of the time. When the ball managed to pass carra and agger he swept the ball. That's all I was saying.
And if you take word for word all those so called expert reports then I'm afraid you are being naive. Most of the time they know less than the more knowledgeable fans. They can't even describe Kenny's 5-3-2/3-5-2 system properly.

Acqua wont come back here now.
