Luis Suárez is ready to sign a new contract and stay at Liverpool

Luis Suarez is keen to stay with Liverpool despite mounting speculation over his future in English football. The Uruguay striker, who has courted controversy since signing from Ajax in January 2011, recently served an eight-match ban for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra and has been linked with a move Paris St-Germain.

"I want to stay. Despite everything that happened, I am very happy here, on and off the pitch," Suárez told ovaciondigital.com. "Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in Europe, with a history. As a child I saw them play and loved it. And the club are happy with me and want me to stay.

"I have a contract until 2016 and already want to renew. The manager remains confident in me and that is very important, especially after being out for eight games."

Suárez compounded his racism charge by refusing to shake Evra's hand before Liverpool's 2-1 defeat to United at Old Trafford on 11 February, and the 25-year-old admits he still harbours a sense of injustice over his treatment at the hands of the Football Association.

"In the case of suspension of eight games I think I was a victim," he said. "What hurts me most is that I was in court and there was no concrete evidence. It was just my word against another player and they believed him. That hurt a lot. I do not think I deserve to be treated like I was treated."

Despite being prolific during his time in Holland, Suárez first came to wider attention at the 2010 World Cup when his handball on the goalline against Ghana ultimately was pivotal in Uruguay booking their place in the semi-finals at the expense of the African nation.

It was an action for which Suárez was widely criticised, but he says both that incident and his clash with Evra are moments that he refuses to dwell on. "Obviously, if you read on the internet and newspapers, you think I'm going through something very difficult, but the truth is that I'm fine," he said. "It's similar to what happened with my hand in the World Cup. But these things happen in football. Some day they will be anecdotes and I try to forget them today."

Some good words from Luis there, he wants to honor his contract which I hope he does.

I hope this interview puts some rumors to bed

The line I've put in bold will annoy the hell out of the media ,who keep insisting he is enduring a traumatic time, and on the verge of walking .

Says it all really, 200 games in 13 seasons, with a fair few as sub. Had the talent and ability for football, sadly also for eating competitions. In his first few years he could and did tackle, passing was always phenomenal, but his increasing lack of mobility and athleticism put a burden on the team at times. We were a winning club with top players so Molbys shortcomings could be covered, he would be a laughing stock today.

Great strike Luis, when he has the ball, actually even without it, defenders look really scared of him. Needs a clinical mobile striker alongside him.

What a ridiculous argument ,any overweight player would be a figure of ridicule in today's game ,but Jan was an exceptional talent and  given his bulky
frame it makes his genius on the ball even more impressive .

As for your claim Jan  was a burden to the team ,where the fuck you have gleaned that from only serves to mystify .I watched Jan numerous
times in a Liverpool shirt and never was I aware his lack of 'athleticism was hindering his or his team mates game .

If its not too pertinent a request ,may I ask how old your are ?

Old enough to have seen him in flesh a few times while Kenny was still manager. There is no argument, he was hugely overweight, and would be ridiculed even more today than he was then. He was a very talented passer of the ball, so what? He wasted it as well with his lack of discipline, IMHO a lack of fitness and effort( not necessarily in Jans case), is the biggest sin, these traits have to be a given, it's a lack of respect for the club, supporters and yourself not to be in shape. We could laugh about it then, because we were winning, imagine him in our squad now, these boards would be red hot with calls to get rid of him.  Look, at the time, I thought he was fantastic too, but the players around him had to work a lot harder due to his shortcoming in fitness and mobility, I've even heard Houghton say as much.

I'm not saying he was *****, he weren't, I loved the vision he had, but I also see his very obvious and controllable shortcomings. The initial posting was that he was elevated above Souness and Gerrard, not a chance in my book.

How the fck can you say that his lack of athleticism was not hindering his game ? Any player would play better if they were in better shape and therefore reduce the work load on the team. 200 games in 13 seasons tells its own story.

Obviously we could both argue till we were blue in the face (pardon the colour ),but I seen the man in his pomp, and at no time did I ever get the
impression he was labouring because of his weight ,and maybe that's because of the considerable talent he had ,I mean you could call the fella
overweight ,but you could never accuse Molby of being lethargic . It was Big Jans gait and his style of play that made him  glide so gracefully
around the pitch not his weight .

Anyway I obviously rate him ,whereas you seen his weight condition as having a debilitating effect on said team ,we can agree to disagree
otherwise its pretty obvious we can afford each other no quarter on the subject .

Like I said, I thought he was great at the time, even now, but in the pantheon of Liverpools greatest players, midfielders, he doesn't get close to Gerrard, Souness, even Xabi. He almost stopped tackling while still a fairly young player and we used to laugh, at the time in admiration, that it was like a pin ball machine with Molby the static, exaggerated in know, pin in the middle pinging the ball round.

I can't abide players that are not in shape, if regular people like myself :eyebrow are, then so can highly paid professionals. However good Jan was, imagine the benefit to the club if he had been more professional, it should anger you, we were cheated. It's one of the many reasons I could not stand that waste of space Ruddock, (bar the header against the scum).

Rbg even you must concede that Jan did not play enough for us; and it wasn't because Houghton, Whelan or McMahon were so much better that he warmed the bench so often.

How the fuck you can quantify  Molby's overall value to the team with that description ? It really does your post little credit.
So now we're supposed to believe Molby was a figure of fun amongst the Kop ,that he came with his very own clown car ,and big
fuck off shoes ?  I must be honest I was compelled to cease reading after that ill thought (and definitely ill conceived) account
of Molby's  input in its (as you would have us believe ) entirety .

I rated Molby you didn't ,but please stop making assertions or indeed assumptions as to which points I should concede .
I'm guessing neither of us are quite that malleable .

Despite not being a prolific striker, I hope he will at least finish his contract here with us till 2016. His strength is not scoring goals but he is excellent in going past defenders and can be a good assist and to make full use of his talent, I beg Kenny and Comolli to please sign a clinical striker in the summer to partner him up front. Kuyt and Carroll are not good enough being too old and incompatible respectively.

Anything can happen in football, even if he wants to go to PSG, it wouldn't be a great loss if we can get another 50 million for him and use that to buy 2 quality strikers.

Bang on the money with every word on Molby and Suarez.

Hopefully that news on Luis is accurate; to have him tied up for longer would be fantastic.

chuffed there's word he wants to stay, I absolutely love watching him play but he's frustrating as hell at times. Maybe he tries too much sometimes and he should pass the ball after beating two men rather than trying to go passed the third. His committment certainly isn't in doubt for me and I wouldn't have blamed him if he wanted to flee the country but nope, in typical Suarez fashion he gives them the finger. Good times for LFC, he just needs a striker with flair alongside him whos equally capable of some magic
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

No surprise to see him slotting home a beautiful goal when he plays with Maxi ,a player equally adept with the ball at his feet.
