I was referring the four best Danish players (M.Laudrup was an attacking mid btw). The big fella's huge frame due to a lazy-ass attitude cost him from winning more caps. The game was even slower then, he brings that rotund frame into todays game he gets further left for dead.

If Jan was better than both McMahon and Whelan then he would have played. He didn't because they had far more to their game, hence he was often sat next to Kenny on the bench as the sub.

To bring Jari Litmanen into this is quite laughable, why not mention Fernando Morientes also as he too was past his best when he signed for us.

Totally concur with what your saying , I've watched the reds for 30 years plus and have seen many players blessed with god given talent ,but Big Jans
skill was almost effortless his timing and perception of bringing other players into play was impeccable ,and like you I am certainly not about to listen
to any one stupid enough and crass enough to question his undoubted talent .

Molby, Souness and Gerrard. If you don't have a brain in midfield you'll go nowhere.

Jari Litmanen wasn't played anywhere near enough during his short spell with us to warrant such a comment.

Jari Litmanen should have been played more by Houllier, but then Houllier should have signed Anelka, should have kept hold of Nick Barmby and Titi Camara, but what's done is done.

Though how are team could do with another Jari Litmanen at the moment. A wonderful player on his day, a very special talent.

Jan Molby was a class player who got fat, kind of like Ruddock, except completely different as Ruddock just did the fat bit a lot easier than the class bit.

Hope this settles everytihng

Jari Litmanen was past his best when he joined us...he also didn't really fit into the system we used either.

He was a good 2 to 3 years past his best, but that doesn't stop some trying to use him as some bizarre comparison to Molby.

Back on topic, world class goal from Luis. Some great link up between himself and Maxi. He needs more of these technical players around him so he can excell week in week out.

Jari Litmanen has to be one of the most talented players I have ever seen play but at the same time the most unlucky one also. His career has been so tarnished by weird injuries that it was insane. He i still playing football in Helsingfors. 41-42 years old :buttrock

The comparison was with another talented player who could have played more games for us than he did.  Jan played  200 plus games for us.  Not bad for a reserve.

ycsat...  Molby over Mcmahon.  Just a personal preference for artists over artisans (another example would be Xabi over Masch), unless that artisan is Souness (I know he could play!)and is prepared to stomp over everyone to secure victory for us.

Does this count as not debating?  Fck it.

Nice goal Luis.
