Europa maybe the smaller of the European comps but its still more important than a meaningless friendly in Australia that is based on financial reasons.

Merit or nothing ? really - so if it was a fair play route into the CL you would turn it down ? And when they changed the rules to allow us into the CL you had no problems then ?

And BR ( again in my opinion ) shouldnt be saying what he did - one minute he says some very good things in the press - the next he counters it with something that will not go down well.

What was the Suarez pitch for then?

That meaningless friendly in Bangkok and Melbourne will probably rake in more spondoolies than the Europa cup, and when your implying in other threads that you'd be happy to have a sugar daddy and owners to spend like there is no tomorrow as money runs the sport these days, I find this questioning a bit 'rich' coming from you.

There isn't a fair play route into the CL though is there? - the two comps are clearly stratified.

Well, BR said what he said and that's his opinion, surely he is entitled to that? He's hardly doing a 'Hodgson' and getting all support off side is he, some can see the pragmatic approach in what he's saying.

Surely you'd earn more by being in the European competition than playing a few exhibition matches in Oz?

Our owners don't really care about Europa League or Domestic cups.  They want us in the top 4.  Its crucial that we get CL football in order for their self sustain model to work.

Do you have something to add to the subject ?

I do !!!! What is the point of debating the subject when you are going to be so obtuse as to suggest that the Europa League is not a second rate competition. Look at the prize money and that in itself should tell even you how the competition is rated. How many teams use the CL to give their youngsters match practice? The Europa League can be compared to the football league cup which is regarded by literally everybody as second rate not that I would expect you to agree for one minute.

Once again you have successfully turned a fkg molehill into a mountain and only yesterday you accused me of derailing threads. You are a joke. When are you going to accept that you have a rowing boat with one oar and that the number of people on this forum that think you are a complete di.ck increases by the hour.Just check the last few pages if you need any confirmation. Your three month ban wasn't long enough. What a boring clown you are.

So your idea of adding to the thread was to post another volley of abuse at me when all I have done is discuss the club and football.

You talk about me getting a ban - it wasnt long ago when people like you were given bans.

The fact you can continue to post this constant stream of abuse at posters is a reason why this forum is going down.

As someone early said - certain people like you are just looking to post insults and to start fights on the forum - you have no desire to talk about the club or football.

It's why Kenny was sacked.

Because we didnt get top 4 and the trophy was won was irrelevant to them - what they didnt realise is the fans ( majority from what I can see ) think rather differently in terms of trophies.

It's why I'm very interested to see what they say about this season because there hasn't been much improvement so far.

Since, we've been arguing the merits for and against playing in channel 5s Europa cup.  I'd agree with what Rodgers has said, given our circumstances you don't, fair enough. But to make out he'd rather the money than the comp like you initially said he did was very disingenuous of you.

Yes I would agree with that

But as someone mentioned I think it would be more the party line.

And if the choice did arrive in the summer - the road that the owners took could be a significant moment for them depending which way they went.

If European football was turned down in favour of the pre season tour ( speculation of course ) then the fanbase, especially the local one would be in uproar.

If you think that then you haven't been to Anfield in the last 12 months since Kenny was sacked or read lots of the other forums when it comes to the feeling towards the manager.

If you think that Liverpool fans would support owners that pick a friendly tour over a competitive tournament then you don't understand the club or Liverpool fans

Sorry for the abuse - you give the impression that you like it

On a serious note the majority of my post was disagreeing with you that the Europa League is a first rate competition. Convince me that I'm wrong because I struggle to accept that the Europa League is nothing more than a second rate competition. have you seen just how empty a lot of the stadiums our compared to the CL for example?

Again you can call it "second rate" if you want but currently it's the sort of competition we can compete in.

If you want to see how our fans and players view it the see how many times we got 40 thousand plus into the stadium , see the reaction of Kenny when we qualified , see the reaction and the tears from the players when we got knocked out this season.

It's a competition in Europe - a competition we have won a number of times with pride. We aren't in CL , we aren't challenging for the title so until then we try and win the other cups or tournaments. You can call them "second rate"  if you so wish - ill just call it a competition that we will look to win if we are in it.

I'll say this clearly Benny, I was refering to the owners support not the fans.

The Europa league isnt a second rate competition. Its one that is less superior than the champions league but still very competitive at a high level. If you look at some on the teams that have competed in it this year. Napoli - Currently second in Serie A and Atletico Madrid - 3rd in La liga. Both those teams will have champions league football next year.

The Europa league will give you more of financial muscle than that of not being in it and in terms of Fixtures playing thursday sunday. Chelsea havent done too bad alot better than Arsenal.

The English league is so competitive now along with us you have Spurs Arsenal Chelsea and United all competing for top 4 throw Everton in the mix aswell. Only 4 can qualify for the champions league and there will be far too much quality in the likes of us and the already mentioned Napoli and Ath madrid that it would be wrong to deem it second rate

And my initial comment that you replied to was talking about the fans - i was talking about the fans reaction if we turned down a chance to be in Europe.
