If we'd played Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Man U and lost all four and labelled it as our worst start in 100 years would you panic? No. Perspective people
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Ok, perspective. we played ***** in the europa cup. Hearts nearly put us out. WBA thrashed us, A Arsenal side that couldn buy a win gave us a real kicking at home. Then sunderland have one shot and score and for the most part we didnt look like getting it back, we have one striker who isnt an out and out goal scorer.

We have a board who by all accounts stiched our manager up and let him think he was getting a major part of his plans in on deadline day only to not allow it or mess it up.

If thats not the case we have a Manager who let an out and out striker who was just coming on form leave for nothing while not having someone to replace him.

Panic? not yet. Worry? dam right

I struggle to see where the goals are going to come from I agree with that, but there's no chance I'm pinning that on Rodgers, judging by his conferences around that time he certainly doesn't agree with letting Carroll go. Arsenal are always going to be a tricky side, we should have beat City bar two defensive lapses and a point at Sunderland isn't the worst result

Forget the EL, we're in the cup. I don't care HOW we progress, so long as we do, and we did

I dont know the real story about whats going on at the club, Brendan is picking the best of what we have. Im just gutted everytime i see us play i expect to lose. Borini looks lost, Gerrard looks old and slow. Of all the teams we have to play the scum next.

What is a realistic target this season?

Top half, top eight, top 6, top 4 etc.

It'll probably be top 6. It's too much to ask for top 4 I reckon

We could finish anywhere between 6th and 10th. It depends if we get a striker in january or not.

People saying we'll be in a relegation battle are just knee jerking idiots who are looking for a reaction. In some ways, I hope we do get relegated. Then all the d#ckheads we have 'supporting' the club will do one.

18 months ago we were hovering above the relegation zone at christmas, and that was when we had the likes of torres and mascherano in our side.
our recent form isnt much better, we have won 4 out of our last 19 league games and with united on the horizon there is a good chance that will be 4 out of our last 20. that is relegation form over a six month period.
do i think we will go down? no i dont, but i`m also not arrogant enough to assume that it`s not a faint possibility. if you add hodgsons tenure to kennys finish from last season then we`d be down. those 2 disasterous runs of results were only months apart from each other as well.
i saw a man united side that included george best (when he bothered to turn up) go down a division, just six years earlier they were champions of england and europe. good players and good teams can go down, if you get trouble behind the scene`s and players dont want to be there and dread going into work the next morning anything can happen
there are no easy games for us in this division, the likes of wigan, swansea, stoke, fulham away are tricky games for us and lets face it we stuggled to get past hearts over 2 legs, a hearts side that was beaten at home by the bottom side in the SPL the weekend after they played us.
as someone has already mentioned if suarez got a bad injury we would really be in the sh*t.

mascherano played 1 game that season then was sold. he "refused to play" against man city. torres didn't want to be here that season and basically turned it on when he could be bothered. most games he didn't get a kick due to hodgson's dark age tactics anyway.

looking at the fixtures when they came out i said that it wouldn't surprise me if we had no more than 5 points after 5 games, especially under a new manager with new players coming into the side. after united we have norwich, stoke and reading in the next three so i'd expect us to start picking up points then. we still have far too much quality to be anywhere near a relegation battle. goals have to start going in sooner rather than later.

For me blame lies utterly with Brendan Rodgers. He's the manager. He can hum and ahhh about owners all he likes, but he picked out Andy Carroll from the off and said "I dont want you". Is BR so naive that he thought he could come on in and have us passing the ball around, carving up teams, that we'd not need a second option. His offloading of Carroll said to the squad 'This is my way. Win, lose or draw. This is my way. If you don't fit my way, then you can leave. I don't care about econimics, you can go, now, for free, i'll worry about a replacement later'. Naive? More like arrogance, believing in his own hype. He's laid all his chips on his passing philosophy without implementing the system first and without any forethought for a plan B. He even sold his plan B, he was that confident. But even then, we should be beating or at least challenging the likes of...West Bromwich Albion.

How folk can blame the owners for this is beyond me. WBA have a new manager. They don't have much money. Yet they trounced us 3-0. ah well...a learning curve....until we faced City....then Arsenal........then Sunderland...

We've not even come close to winning a league game yet.

There's no fix or this. Us loyal supporters will have to keep on. We have no choice. As someone else has said though, it feels very much like being on a sinking ship.

I've been Red all my life and I will always be. I could deal with it if we were battling. But we are in freefall, and i've seen nothing in BR to encourage me. He's clever with words, yes, but the progress seen since his arrival speaks far louder.

I could not agree more. We have far too many good players to get relegated.

I dont expect us to score many goals this season with such a thin squad, but we are still a team thats hard to beat. With luck we get some decent attacking talent for christmas.

Are you taking the pi$$?

We played City off the park for long spells and but for a howler from Skrtel late on would have won the game. Even after that Carroll had a header cleared off the line. We could easily have beat Sunderland had we taken our chances and had a bit more luck in the second half. West Brom we were the better team until they scored a worldy. We then made stupid individual errors which cost us. Fair enough we were poor against Arsenal but to say we haven't come close is just wrong.
