The only thing I could say Rogers got wrong was brining on Carra after the red card instead of a more attacking player.  We naturally assumed it would be 2-0, so why bring on a defensive player unless you're already going into damage control?  Should have stuck in Hendo or Carroll.

Other than that, there's nothing he could have done.  We didn't play well and nothing went our way.  Sh*t happens.

I agree. Anyway, I have faith in BR. I'm going to back him to the hilt. He's been the first manager after Rafa to inspire true confidence in me and I know he's going to get things right.

I agree but it's down to the manager with regard to tactics in the final third and motivation and passion throughout the team. The first half was ok but not that good.

if players can't motivate themselves then they can sod off out of this club to be honest. it's ok playing to orders but if they can't show a bit of invention or improvisation now and again what's the point? downing and cole earn £140k a week between them and both are an embarassment.

you carnt come in and try implement your system when most of your players you have are better suited to 4-4-2.

Its far to early to criticise Brendan. It's true that we didn't have a plan B but I think the players were shell shocked after the double pen and sending off and Brendan was shellshocked at what pussy's our players are! I would imagine a severe bollocking to be adminished to all players, except Reina.

i also think we need to drop Stevie from the team, he just isn't good enough any more imo, and the less said about Johnson and Downing the better.

Final point the owners have to sanction a big money move for a proven striker, it is crucial because there is no way we can rely on Suarez to get the goals.

It's the manager's responsibility to pick the right players for the job. If Downing doesn't have the balls to play top league football he shouldn't be on the pitch ,same goes to Cole and Johnson and whoever. And the one to tell them to sod off is the manager. I'll let BR check his player guts ,i'm sure he will make the right decision.

Carroll will not work. If u are going to take a hit, take it early and give urself room to recover. Take the loss and move him on to Newcastle if thats what he wants. We need to invest in a striker who can score goals.

If Adams doesn't work for BR then move him yesterday!

We need to tie up the Sahin deal to give us an alternative to Gerrard and Lucas.

The Cole thing is a mystery- we have had to sub him in two straight games. Somebody in the medical department is not doing his job....

Don't know about Gerrard he didn't look great today. Johnson in the first half looked ok going forward a couple of times. As for the striking situation why did we buy Borini then? I can't see the owners spending big at the moment that after what happened with the players Kenny bought? Anyway we only created two decent chances in the first half so the problems are also in other areas. I think Carroll would have buried that header that Suarez missed.

Indeed, it was a welcome and a half for Mr Rodgers, if he didn't realise what kind of mess he was walking into before today, then he will have realised at the final whistle. I didn't watch the match because I was at work, but I wasn't surprised to find that we were 1-0 down at half-time and 3-0 down mid-way into the second half.

Apparently Phil Dowd was bias against us (nothing new there) and was appalling today (again, nothing new there, he's a terrible referee), but I still don't think that justifies a defence on what was a poor result. Am I disappointed? Not really, I had hoped we'd win today or get a draw, but it seems things might well get worse or remain the same before they improve.

Still onwards and upwards, I suppose...

That's not the manager's fault though is it? If FSG are refusing to supply Rodgers with funds and insist that he spends what the club generates, then this rebuilding job becomes a lot, lot harder.

Rodgers said it will take years to get us on track and I don't think he was overdramatising things, it's going to take years. Swapping the manager every season won't change a single thing.

i disagree about carroll, he may not be the most pleasing on the eye but he does have the weapons within his game to trouble any defence on the planet, some of our players today like borini and downing looked very lightweight and it`s going to be a long old season especially away from home if we think teams are going to roll over and let us pass our way through them.
teams know how we are going to play and adapt their tactics to suit, do you think skrtel getting caught in possession by long was a coincidence? clarke had well told his forwards that brendan likes his defenders to pass the ball so there might be a chance of catching them dawdling on the ball looking upfield for a pass which is exactly what happened.
they seemed to read our pressing very well too and considering they are not renowned as a passing team they they passed through our `press` quite easily.
at the end of last season carroll and suarez were giving good teams like chelsea and everton all they could handle, if i was rodgers i`d move heaven and earth to get sahin here, put him in midfield with allen and lucas and play gerrard and suarez either side of carroll up front.

Andy Carroll seems like one of the few players we have that scores goals. Shipping him out is the last thing I'd do. I do think we'll struggle this season, but it's a season for adaption, and given the disappointed three seasons we have had before this one, I've gotten so used to us being so poor that I just give a sigh, shake my head and persevere with supporting this club.

Knowing how inconsistent we are it wouldn't surprise me if we beat Man City in our next league match.
