Young players who do well for England get bought up for big money very fast. So to an extent I agree they are overpriced.

No but it creates entertainment. All joking aside, Leon I respect other peoples opinions. I understand that quite few of you don't think that Rooney is overpriced. I agree that he is a talented footballer but he has been overhyped and to me personaly 30 million is a bit too much for a 19 year old player who still has to prove himself in the Premiership. If he's 30 million now god knows how much he will be worth in two or three years.

Reyes isn't a teenager.

You know ****** all about english football ya tool

Tell it to somebody that actually gives a damn what you have to say.

You'll be the one who will slate a certain player at the begining but at the end of the season you will come out and say something such as this:

"I always believed he could be good for us" or anything along those lines.

You're hopeless.

"Wayne Rooney=this teenager isn't even worth 30 pounds, a desperate move for United if you ask me.  Everton needed the money otherwise they would have settled for less than 10".

Who's words of wisdom are these?  ...er, none other than our old friend A.B.  Posted Sept 3 at 03.23.

Still, this has been one of the most entertaining threads ever, brilliant.

He isn't worth 30 million. He has a bright future but who are you to say that he will be a success a year or two years from now? Everton would had settled for less had they had been in a better financial situation.

Look at Rooney in today's game compared to his game against Fenerbache. He did nothing.

At the moment there may not be many who are of the same level as Rooney. Freddy Adu?

What's the benchmark for a a football player to become a world great? Zidane, Pele or Maradona?

I suppose the best way to compare was when Ronaldo was 18. Ronaldo was already plying his trade in PSV when he grew to become a phenomenom in Barcelona @ 20. The steps that Rooney has to take to acclaim such feats or say less, half of what Ronaldo did, would have been an immense task already.

Rooney is the best there is in the english game now, at his age. But for him to be a world great, he has yet produce what is demand of. Love him or hate him?
