Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Hi Supermarius , far be it from me to put a dampener on things but Gerrard was GONE when John Bul took the bet , he was persuaded to stay by benitez, Owen and Carragher in Portugal ???

Also it's been rumoured that Gerrard's family have come in for some stick when it became clear he was considering a move away from LFC, which if correct is totally unacceptable (the Abuse not the leaving) .

Am I the only person who thought SG's press conference sounded a little "hollow" ( he's obviously been under a great strain).

He can across quite sheepish and probabbly a bit embarrassed that the story was leaked (No doubt by chelsea  and SG's Agent  )

The lad's been used as a pawn in Ambramovich and Kenyon's little games !!!!!!!

Stevie needs to learn a little humility. We all know he was ready to walk out on us and its only right he looks a little sheepish. At the end of the day(i hate that expression) he has stood up like a man and acknowledged his debt to the fans and the club and remained loyal to us.

He`s restored a little of my faith in humanity.

Whilst I have no stake in the Hustlers winnings (well done!).. I can share in the glory of having faith that SG would stay..call it luck or intuition.. I never thought he'd leave:

I must say however, it was most discerning reading some of the headlines... not in the press but on this site about him "going, gone, deal done etc"

Thanks to senor Benitez the day has been saved.. that meeting with the LFC lads in Portugal clearly left an impression. :)

You are a smart chap, aren't you?  :D

Yes i am a smart chap actually!

the post i made about steven gerrard saying chelsea can have him, has nothing to do with this post!

This post was merely stating that I thought he wouldnt go!, based on rumours.
I didnt say I wanted him to stay!

And he did stay for EXACTLY the reason I thought he would too! being loyal to the fans, etc.

But no player is irreplacable.

I bet John Bull is hiding under his stairs or somethin.

But if he was to leave,

It was a story fabricated by a bitter london journalist from the daily mail.He had claimed he was the first to break the Gerrard going to Chelski story, and it was a done deal.He created the lies on the back of Gerard Houllier getting the death threat at the end of last season.
It's another southern biased ****** story with no credence to it whatsoever.

Look Hustler, I'll stop having a go at you: I'm happy you were right.  :)

However, even you must admit that your arguement was based on faith in Gerrard doing the right thing and you have to admit that Gerrard did actually consider moving.

Bull was nearly right, but he owes you £100: fair and square.

I would have some sympathy for Bull only he had a go at FiveCups for not believing him about Gerrard leaving and called him "FiveTits".

As for Daglish's point about Gerrard looking sullen and down at the press conference, I would have to agree. However, in his mitigation, he went through a stressful time and he is still understandably unhappy about the actual footballing side at Liverpool after last season.

Skysports.com have an interview with Gerrard taken after the press conference and thankfully in that he is faar more positive and states that he believes Benetiz is the man who will turn the tide for Liverpool. However, he did say that he is still looking for a lot of new faces in the squad.
