JoeTerp you have been scouting on football manager havent you?

I would love us to sign a few players from that top lot but they are all 20Mil+ players. Hamsik probably 25+.

I think we should definatley try for Glen Johnson and Gareth Barry if the price is right. But we need to splash out on another top quality forward and right winger too. I thnik Rakatic can play in the centre or either wing right?

Also isnt Podolski back off to Cologne at the end of the season?

I don't have football manager. I just looked at the tables in the leagues and then I looked at the teams missing out on the CL and if they had any names I recognized as being of some talent, I wrote them down.

I don't think they are ALL 20 million pound players. But I do think you can almost find anything your looking for in there. With a range of expereince and youth, foreign and domestic, quality, high quailty, and world class.

Yes, you can play Rakitic across the attacking 3 that we like the play behind Torres, but I have mostly seen him play out wide.

I don't know if anything is official with Podolski but I have heard that rumor and I think it is a "strong" one.

I agree about Johnson, and Barry for me is really dependent on the price we are quoted. But with Johnson, I wouldn't stand for being held to ransom, there were lots of attacking wingbacks listed in there.

We need to get more English players and Johnson being English will naturally come at an inflated price. I would say 10Mil for him.

Gareth Barry snubs Villa over new contract and could join Liverpool at last

Gareth Barry has rejected talks with Aston Villa over a new deal according to Sunday newspaper reports, which would seem to pave the way for a summer move to Liverpool.

The 28-year-old will only have a year left on his current contract at the end of the season, and his stalling over an extension could be good news for Rafa Benitez.

The Liverpool manager was keen to buy Barry last year, but after a saga that lasted months Anfield chief executive Rick Parry failed to complete the deal.

And with Benitez now in a stronger position than he has ever been in, having signed a new five year deal and Parry set to leave the club, Barry looks set to finally get his wish.

Villa have enjoyed a fine season under Martin O'Neill, and are still challenging to win a place in the Champions League, but Barry will still be tempted by the size of Liverpool, who are currently chasing both the league title and European Cup.

You´re on drugs son, whats the point of having Messi if only 45,000 people can pay to watch the sod when Ure have 76,000 Mancs wasting their money watching their team?  Bums on seats = $$$ = Messi, but not the other way round.

Out
Voronin - 6 Mill
Degen - 1 Mill
Intadje - 1 Mill
Agger - 9 Mill
Total 17 Million

In
Glen Johnsen - 9 mill
Raul Albiol - 9 Mill
David Silva - 20 mill
Owen - Free
Barry - 2 to 5 mill
Total : 40 to 45 mill

I'd loan out lucas and babel give them key experience and some more playing them than they are getting , as i feel they clearly have talent and whenever there has been a run of games for them both they have impressed . Agger as he clearly wants to leave and albiol is a better defender than him . Owen is still a cracking player and best of all he's available on free and now with a proper right midfield player we have kuyt for cover in both those areas , striking and right midfield .

Hmmm now that Shearer is the manager of Newcastle, Owen might sign a new contract.  :(

Barry will probably cost £8m-£10m. We won't get £9m for Agger. He's only got just over a year left on his contract. We'll be lucky to get £7m for him.

Silva's rumoured to be £30m+ (ridiculous but not worth it if true).

I'd be more than happy if we got:

Glen Johnson - £8m
Albiol (or similar) - £8m
Lennon - £15m
Barry - £8m
Van Persie - £16m

Total: £55m

The question is, do we have that much to spend?

One thing we should keep in mind is the need for English (at least trained) players for the 6+5 rule.

We have to get more English players but also increase the number of world class players to add to Torres and Gerrard.....maybe Masch and Alonso are on that list too.

I'm looking forward to the summer, once we've won the league  :buttrock

We'll go for lots of players but I'd be very happy with-

Aaron Lennon
Glen Johnson
David Villa
Gareth Barry

I'd loan out Babel and Lucas and sell -

Pennant
Voronin
Dossena
Deggen

Van Persie is an interesting choice.  Isn't his contract running out soon?

He will sign a new one, I can't see him coming here.

Glen Johnson looked good last night I hope Rafa makes him his no 1 choice for RB come the summer. But I think he will cost more than 9Mil.
