Rafa Keane on Spurs ace

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has revealed his interest in signing Robbie Keane, but has ruled out a move for David Villa.

Benitez is in the market for striking reinforcements with Peter Crouch on the verge of a move to Portsmouth and has been linked with moves for Tottenham star Keane and Valencia hit-man Villa.

Keane's future at White Hart Lane has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, with reports suggesting Spurs would listen to offers for the Republic of Ireland international.

Villa has been a long-term target for Benitez, but the former Valencia boss admits it is unlikely the Reds will be signing the Euro 2008 top scorer.

"I said the other day that he is one of the names we had on our list, but I can say at this moment that it is not an option for us," said Benitez.

"We know Villa is a very good player, we know the price and we know the players we have, so when you consider everything we decided he was one of the names, but at this moment, not our target.

"Keane is one of the other names and okay we are still working with other names. We were in contact and we will see now."

Ok so the next step is for Keane to come out and declare his interest in joining LFC (barry'esque), get banned from pre-season with Spurs and we hit a stalemate for 4 weeks before he signs :p

We should be aiming for David Villa only this time. Feck MON and lets forget about Barry. Use that cash and that from the sale of Crouch to buy the guy we reall need ( Villa).

We'll get him.

Crouch leaves and we get Robbie Keane?

Wow. That's a good scenario.

With Torres, Keane, Kuyt, and Babel, the striking line-up I think is complete.

Voronin gets a few goals here and there and isn't expensive in terms of wage.

Then we need to fokkuss on qualateee wingersh!!!!

I think the 3 big name transfers this season would be gareth barry , David silva and robbie keane . I think we would have a sqaud than to challenge for the premier league with david silva on the left wing , robbie kenae upfront i'm not too sure where gareth barry might play as gerrard and masch would be the preferred central midfield partnership , unless gerrard's moved out onto the right?

Keane would be a cracking player , goal poacher , hardworker and gets his decent share of goals and assist and he wants to play for us .

He's no David Villa that's for sure, but it looks as if budgetary constraints are forcing us to look for a level below the top.

The £20m price tag being suggested is far too much I think, £15m would be about as far as I'd go, at a real push - i.e. if we can find nobody better.
